Probably a decade or more, if ever

While seething at Switch piracy for 7 straight years, they invested heavily in security features and tripled the size of their legal department in preparation for the Switch 2. You can bet your ass they're watching the homebrew scene like a hawk ready to take down any emulation projects before they can get off the ground (assuming the console is ever busted open in the first place)

Buy a Switch 2 and try to crack it. Once you've done that, reverse engineer the GPU calls. Look at how much time has passed and add about 2-3 years to that. That's how long it'll take for Bananza to be playable on PC.

The extraordinary circumstances behind the Switch (Tegra documentation from nvidia Shield, literal Tegra emulator, and the hardware vector with a paperclip) have legit spoiled people into thinking emulators aren't a decade-long reverse engineering project. The PS4 came out in 2013. We're just getting to fully playable Bloodborne now in 2025.
People feel entitled to Nintendo emulators because their consoles are less powerful and because fuck Nintendo. Fewer people are willing to actually buy a Nintendo console to try and crack it themselves. Emulation is based but emufags are cringe.

Because Nintendo are both competent developers and a competent publisher
Because Nintendo doesn't chase trends that are outdated by the time the game releases
Because Nintendo doesn't succumb to "MUH GRAPHIX"
Because Nintendo doesn't rely on "digital services" like microtransactions and subscriptions for the majority of their revenue
Because Nintendo has a much healthier profit than 6%

It has no HDR and less visual clutter.
It's only playable by having a switch 2 with bananza avail locally.
If we can extract that switch 1 version and dump it online, it's ggs.

Even if its true, whatever is shared is just a small nsp/xci file that have basic functionallity, its by no means the full game whatsoever.

Probably never because anyone competent enough to develop a Switch 2 emulator is afraid of Nintendo suing them. And there's no exploit for Switch 2 do the thing is a black box, you kinda need to know how something works to emulate it.

I think emulation is going to hit a big roadblock this gen. There are very few exclusives nowadays so nobody is interested in emulating Sony consoles. Nintendo is going to sue anyone attempting to make an emulator unless it's like 2 generations old.
We'll probably see PS4 emulator develop somewhat so it boots the few PS4 exclusives and then grind to a halt because it's not an interesting system to emulate but a PS5 emulator may never exist until like 40 years in the future when someone makes it for fun. If Switch 2 emulator is made it's probably going to be by the time it's considered a retro console.
A big part of emulation was the fact that your library didn't carry forward. I can see the PS4 library being playable on PS6 and PS7. Same for Switch successors.

This is something people miss. You can make the emulator only work with decrypted ROMs, sure, but you can still be sued and you'll have to explain why do you develop software that can only ever be used with illegally decrypted ROMs and how did you acquire these ROMs to test your software. There is a precedent for something like this in courts.

Putting aside if emulation is even feasible right now, let's say there's a working switch 2 emulator. It's reliable, and Nintendo hasn't taken it down. How much computing power are you actually going to need to run it? Who good will your graphics card and GPU need to be?

You don't understand how much work goes into developing an emulator and how much knowledge it takes. It cannot be done by some random schmuck. If there appears a promising Switch 2 emulator they'll just make the dev an offer they can't refuse like it happened with Ryujinx. And the people who do this won't do this in secret, they want clout and recognition.
Most emulators are made by people as passion projects and they couldn't give less of a shit about third worlders needing them to pirate vidya.

You could easily emulate Switch 2 on current hardware if a good emulator existed because it'd be HLE. You wouldn't need a lot of GPU power and you could probably do full speed emulation on desktop Zen 5 chips.

Don't forget the major live service GAAS flops and cancellations. Actual billions lost there too. Snoys like to downplay Concord's $400 million flop, saying it didn't cost that much, but it clearly did considering the dev time, dev location, and the shill marketing it was supposed to receive. Fuck, I really wish Sony took a loan to buy the grand flop of all flops, Paramount. Too bad Skydance are retarding themselves for the acquisition instead.
