I think the most important part of the "Are you a furry" debate is the fact furry went from a fetish to culture with its own subcultures and lore. The term "furry" became something to label a person who engages with the community rather than someone who just jerks off. I would wager that when most think of a furry it's someone in a fursuit or some retarded OC, not just some guy who whacks it to Krystal or Loona.
