Your gimmick is that you have enhanced strength, mobility, armor, and stealth, but you can only pick one at a time. It's actually really fun, very immersive, and well paced.
The game peaked for me when, after you broke into a base and a big plot point happens, you have to break out of the base and sneak past a ton of patrols and checkpoints all looking for you, at dusk and transitioning to night. They really nailed the "you are deep behind enemy lines, but the cavalry is coming" vibe. The cavalry actually arriving is a huge payoff, for me anyway. The last 1/3 or 1/4 of the game basically throws all that out and turns into Halo 2, but it's still cool.
My biggest gripe is the cloak ability. It makes the game too easy. Vehicles were clearly an afterthought and half baked, but also totally optional. You can walk through the whole game if you want (except toward the end). The writing is overall pretty good, the story is pretty generic though.
Worth pirating the original PC version and not the dogshit remaster.
