I only play mine in docked mode, i don't really have any occasion where i'd want/need to play the switch 2 handheld. When i'm not at home relaxing i'm out doing other things or driving or working, no time for vidya then. I've got a steamdeck and switch 1 also and i always have used them mostly docked. Kinda regret getting the Steamdeck because it just doesn't generally match my use-case scenarios. Once every year or so i'll house sit for somebody during bad winter weather to make sure their pets ect are fine while they go to stay with somebody with backup power ect and i'll use my steamdeck then but that's generally it. If anybody in America is looking for a Switch 2 I highly recommend checking out Mejiers if you have them in your area. Ours had Switch 2 in stock for 3 days straight back about a month ago. They tend to stay in stock longer there. a very nice gamestop employee helped me get my Switch 2 with that tip.

But to answer your question (honestly and without ill intended ignorance like you put in your post) I saved up a dollar a day that I put aside in a container once I first heard about the earliest switch 2 info. So when it came out I went to costco when it opened and got my switch bundle after waiting less than 10 minutes in line without worrying about money or changing any of my current spending habits even though this really wouldn't have hurt me if I did just buy it outright without saving.
For me, owning it on launch day was great because I got to be one of the earliest players of Mario Kart and experience it all in person instead of in these threads like those who didn't buy
On top of that I also got to play my old games with a better system so that was much more fun as well. I was excited to get it, and am happy I got it.
