Here's the thing about deconstruction that everyone seems to miss: you have to then reconstruct it into something else. Otherwise you just end up with a broken mess. It's why Last Jedi was a bucket of bullshit, it deconstructed the Star Wars mythos but then forgot to reconstruct it into something else.

Final Fantasy 7 is a deconstruction of the Final Fantasy formula. There's a bunch of FF concepts from before that it twists around. Like the world empire now being a business. Moogles are typically friendly creatures, so anyone going into FF7 wouldn't suspect that Cait Sith was a spy. But it still tells the story of a man trying to redeem himself. One of the most common examples is how Tifa is a sexy Monk that acts like a White Mage while Aerith is a conservative White Mage that acts like a Monk. Watched the ending of part 2 just to see Cloud beat the shit out of Bizarro Sephiroth as he climbed on him like it was Shadow of the Colossus. She's dead. Okay so Rebirth doesn't explain this very well. And Remake doesn't explain it at all. So let me tell you about Dream Worlds.

The Dream Worlds exist within the Lifestream. They're basically little pocket world soap bubbles that the spirits of the dead live in before they pop and the inhabitants diffuse within the Lifestream. All the non canon shit happens in them but trust me bro, it's NOT a multiverse. Even though Cloud has pulled at least 2 physical objects from them, just shut up, don't think about that.

Why does this matter? Well when Sephiroth killed Aerith, Cloud refused to accept that. Causing Cloud to invent his own Dream World where Aerith isn't dead. "But wait," you say, "if the Dream Worlds aren't real then how was Aerith, and Zack, able to fight alongside Cloud in the final battle?" The answer is because SE is stupid. But the in game answer is Sephiroth's goal is to absorb the Lifestream, just like in OG. Unlike OG his motives are more altruistic. He's trying to undo the concept of death by uniting all of the Dream Worlds with reality, bringing all of the inhabitants along with it. Granted he's using despair a catalyst but shut up, don't think about that. The problem with his plan is that he accidentally allowed a dead Aerith and an extremely dead Zack to wander in and help out Cloud. Whoops.

What does all of this mean? Cloud can no longer tell the difference between the Dream Worlds and reality, so unlike the rest of the party, Cloud THINKS Aerith is still alive. Will part 3 manufacture a way to make that true? Who the fuck knows.

Having a big Seph fight that doesn't resolve anything at the end of each Remake part makes the impact nearly nonexistent, it's not even comparable.

That's the biggest problem with turning FF7 into 3 games, you still need a big climatic flashy end fight but when you just just recycle Sephiroth over and over in increasingly contrived, convoluted ways, it fucking ruins the stakes and makes the next game start off on a horrible foot when they take away all your shit and then Cloud jobs to the Midgar Zolom. I really don't like how we're fighting Sephiroth and I mean the real main Sephiroth repeatedly in these games. I was never impressed by Sephiroth as a villain since even in the original game Sephiroth got crippled by a rookie Cloud during the flashback.

But in the remake seeing the characters repeatedly beat up Sephiroth doesn't make me see him as a strong villain. He's a joke. Even a dead girl is humbling Sephiroth and keep in mind that Aerith is NOT using the Lifestream power up in the fight against Sephiroth. People aren't fond of the Disney brand these days and no watching soulless live action remakes of Disney movies is not the same thing as you know actually LIKING a brand. Disney is not as influential as they used to be. And Kingdom Hearts in general has become a huge mess to the point many fans consider Kingdom Hearts 3 the drop off point.

I think the only time in FF7 it would be acceptable to fight pre-finale Sephiroth, is at the point in the northern crater he attacks the party before summoning Jenova Death.
You could give the player the chance to guard his attack that KOs the party and engage him in a brief battle before he summons Jenova and leaves you to fight her.
That wouldn't be out of place at that point in the game or too consequential.

The argument is that 7R is Exactly the same as FF7 except for Sephiroth & Aerith interfering and changing things.

AC has dumb flashy fights with flying dbz bullshit, and it just rehashes the emotional beats of 7 without any of the mystery, twists or cool lore and most of the cast is sidelined (reno gets more screen time than the bulk of the actual party lol). And the lore is kind of dumb, the idea that sephiroths essence just manifests back into people

But the action doesnt look like bolly wood slop, the character redesigns actually look good, the voice acting is better, the dialogue is better. The music is better.

Also 7r's portrayal of cloud also fucking blows and its a big over correction for AC / 2000s cloud. The time janny non sense blows. The new version of the honey bee inn shit is gay as hell.
