He learns the cost of idealism-the hard way-but that's what makes it hit. Letting Saber go wasn't weakness, it was growth. Just wish Studio DEEN didn't make it look like a fever dream adaptation.

Fate's whole dynamic is Shirou and Saber calling each other out for their martyr complexes only to realize they see themselves in each other; they both overcome their respective guilt thanks to their relationship, and its through this that Shirou pursues his dream in the epilogue without losing himself like Archer did. While I think the visual representation of overcoming oneself in UBW hit harder, Fate's finale and epilogue cement it as my favorite route

Reading Stay/Night for the first time (nearly fucking 30 so fuck off I just don't read VNs a lot.) and I'm surprised how long this prologue with Rin goes on for, not that it's a bad thing since it's pretty decently paced and gives decent enough worldbuilding. The lesser grail was never intended to actually grant wishes that was just a carrot to get people to participate in a conflict that only 3 of the participants had any real chance of winning. The grail is just a tool designed for accessing the root and/or greater grail

The only servants summoned from the future are counter agents who are tied to the Earth itself and are only summonable in extremely rare situations such as the case with the holy grail war in the original fate/stay night because of Angra Mainyu

command seals can be overcome by sheer will power but the will power needed to pull it off is rare among servants.

The only reason Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay happen within the same time period is because of Angra Mainyu, every other holy grail war takes place in alternative timelines/universes. Alt universes is also the reason there are wars with more than 7 servants.

It's a pretty effective way to get into the story, since from what I get Rin is pretty experienced with all this shit so she can dump exposition in a way that doesn't feel as overbearing.

Best way is the repackaged Realta Nua version on nyaa's fun side or just the original. The RN pack splices in almost every cut scene while adding some improved artwork, decensoring, and updated music. The only thing it's lacking are a couple suggestive scenes from specified non-H scenes that got rewritten. It's up to you at the end of the day, but I feel the scenes add a lot more than their safe counterparts and Nasu's ero writing flops wildly back and forth between heartwarming and comedic, especially with all the food analogies.
But if you don't want to see Rin go full dyke on Seiba in the most gratuitous fashion, then keep on keeping on.

Honestly, the reason why I far prefer the original release is that it comes off far more vicious to me than the censored release. The H-scenes are hilariously bad but the game's atmosphere suffers quite a bit from you knowing that it's not a "nothing is off the table" experience. Like the horror and violence feels more palpable in the 18+ version?

If you ever get around to Hollow Ataraxia, though, you gotta play an uncensored release. It's the only TM visual novel with actually fappable scenes, most of them quite romantic, character-appropriate and just not weirdly described like the FSN ones are.

Not a whole new version, just an extended copy with a couple hundred extra pages with stuff like elaborating more on the guy that was trying to molest Trashcan Man and whatnot. I was just using it to make a point that I'm fine with picking up basically the same exact version of a story just for a few extra details if I really liked it. Sakura's solo one is very underappreciated even though I prefer Rin and Saber by a lot. Everyone goes crazy over Golden Bathtub and Backside of Kibisis, not without reason, but that Sakura scene is exactly the kind of bland and vanilla H-scene that you would want to wash the taste of HF out of your mouth, like, it's the perfect sexual palate cleanser. It's pretty short, too.

On the other hand I never understood the hype people had for the scene with Rin. Like yeah the character development is pretty nice but the actual H-scene is really awkward considering the state she is in there.
