My game starting booting into a black screen I couldn't fix through multiple updates a couple weeks later, save is probably corrupted and I have no desire to redo a single second of the experience. First, there was shader cache corruption issue a while ago. When the game would have to recompile shaders on the run, which resulted in huge slowdowns when loading a new area. But that got fixed and the game now checks the cache every time it launches. (Like Marvel Rivals, if you ever played that game)
Plus, I personally started to experience a weird microstutter every half a minute or so, around the same time. Not sure what was causing this, the game, faulty Nvidia drivers or something else. But after updating, rolling back, updating again, and the game itself being updated, it runs fine for me. Like it used to on launch. In fact, I believe, the performance in some previously heavy areas, like the rainforest, has improved. So I'm not even getting any noticeable dips in there now.

Nah, still sticking with Sunbreak and older games until P6th hits.

First of all Portable 5 came out on Switch if you didn't know.
Second, the game is literally called "Monster Hunter Portable", the "Portable" is part of the name, it doesn't actually mean the game is on a portable console. For example Portable 3 came out on PS3 but that doesn't mean the game suddenly stops being Portable.
Third, MH4 is obviously mainline because it's part of the MH series and not Portable.

Definitely shader compilation stutter. Most modern games have this problem.
Once it builds the cache (can take many hours of playing) it will stop. Don't update your graphics drivers unless you absolutely have to because it'll have to do the shader compilation all over again every time your drivers update or hardware changes.

No, as I said, it was an entirely different issue. The shader cache corruption was very apparent. Like, I'd load into a map, and whenever I turned the camera the FPS would drop to like single digits. And after a while it would stop, when the game has recompiled the shaders while running.
The microstutter actually aligned with dips in GPU 3D rendering activity, not CPU spikes, like shader compilation would cause. It was very brief and barely noticeable, but still noticeable, so very annoying. It happened after I deleted and rebuilt the previously corrupted shader cache. Not sure what caused it, but after everything I've done and the game has updated it seem to be gone.

2D isn't a good idea maybe, but for performance maybe. To get good visuals on hardware available. Use up RAM and storage transfer speeds. Static stuff assuredly. What 3D and different all the time, reacting, action, using up everything. Grand. Alive even. A start of being the biggest, baddest, or aside from you, only thing in the land. Lightning going off. Huge thing it's first instinct to get harder, incur some hardship, too easy like a reduction. Build up and rip you apart. All about itself. Memory of this about it.

then at 2017 Re got back and track and a year later World release

Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers, Dead Rising, Project x Zone, Lost Planet died along that time, but those and a couple more are as dead as ever. Capcom only managed to lift their main titles on a new level and replaced collections with more collections and remakes.

I've had more fun with re6 than 7 or 8, and I definitely prefer the 3U era to nuMH so I honestly agree with that take. Looking back on that time now in terms of the series that I care about, DmC was the only really shit thing about it. Everything else I unironically prefer.

People bitching about the story when that's just 10% of the playtime are really telling on themselves. LR is never fun unless it's your first MH, you can skip cutscenes, and the time spent "walking and talking" are a fraction of a percent of the total playtime. Even then you can just fast forward to the right conditions so it still doesn't really matter. The living breathing environment is useless background decoration.

If they made it like old MH where you just dropped in the map and had to manually explore with barely any information, memorizing where all the gathering spots are, where monsters like to hang out, where their nests are, what appears during what weather, and so on, it would've been kino. Actually exploring a wilderness and understanding it on your own terms. Instead the menus and seikret do everything for you and there's no discovery at all

I can run I enjoyed it, but it clearly is world lite, I mean no offense by it, it has the potential to be a ebtter title, but capcom is just being extra lazy about it. The game being so easy certainly hurt, but if every TU becomes more challenging, I can get past that gripe.
They have all the skeletons and even textures from world monsters, they could push put more monsters per update by just painting them white and saying that the ancient civilization studied the new world monsters closely so that's why they all have Guardian forms, I know it's not a walk in the park but desu it's not extraordinary work, it's the company's current main heavy hitter ffs.

I'm enjoying it. AT Tuna is pretty shit though. His hitboxes are really shit on his new attacks.

The new charge comes out fast, and it might seem like the hitbox extends a little too far in front of it. (weapons with no guard are going to have a tough time dodging it) But the new side flop seems fairly precise.

my problem with wilds is that it runs like shit on my midrange PC that can run lots of games that have higher fidelity (and notably less anti-soul gas everywhere, higher res textures, etc) at significantly higher framerates.
