Decent direction, but if we're talking conventional terminology - that's more like a cryptid in layman's terms. Still, cryptids are nice too.
How freaky/unconventional are you willing to go? Let's say, something predatory, that looks like it evolved or was made to kill.
Digitigrade legs, but not the kind that looks like some furfag's OC standing on his toes, the springy kind that looks like it can send you flying clear through a concrete wall with a good kick. Tipped with talons (not hooves).
Meaty tail that looks strong enough for feats of strength similar to that of the legs.
Bone plating, but not just the face like wendigos or Malo, the plating covers most of the body.
Multiple eyes, peering from under the boned mask. Light highly contracted pupil with a dark sclera, for extra spooky "2 feint lights staring at you from the depths of the forest at mightnight" vibes.
Lower jaw replaced with some kind of tendrils or any other limb-like appendages. Sort of like picrel.
Smooth/curves horns. Don't make it antlers so people don't think it's just a wendigo with bells and whistles.
