if you watch the behind the scenes stuff they included with one of the last DLCs you'll see the game was scrambled together with all kinds of unfinished ideas.
It's the most linear, 'brain off' borderlands games. unbelievably easy with no thought whatsoever put in to level design. It's just corridors filled with enemies to pad out time for dialogue.
Unless you want to play a singleplayer MMO where you just queue dungeons over and over again until you hit level cap it's a pretty fucken bad game.
