It can be so much worse anon.

What are you doing on your weekends? Try actually getting outside and touching grass and water. You only get one life.

Two things missing
Sense of accomplishment
Social life
Family
Third one falls under teh two prior categories

Delayed gratification. Sense of accomplishment. Boost in confidence. Better overall health both physically and mentally. Plus it feels real good to play vidya after a workout session

You need to find something that fills you with a sense of accomplishment. This does not mean something that is fun or even interesting, but something that has a goal, and you can move towards that goal a little every day until it's finished. Personally, I've found great solace in my wood-shop. Granted, I don't really "like" carpentry, but I have a talent for it and I inherited a lot of gear from my father, so you work with what you got. This summer, I made a bird-house, one of those twelve-rooms, two-story slobberknockers.

Did I like to make it? Eh, not really. But I feel like I accomplished something when I did, and I felt prideful of my accomplishment.

Three sets of ten reps down the line of the gym's equipment racks. Then you have a 10-20 minute walk and you're done for the day. Depending on the size of your gym, that might only be 40-50 minutes, but that's more than enough time if you're only looking to stay healthy and get the blood flowing.

Pickup a new hobby, anything. Rollerskating, a card game, photography, a martial art, biking, painting, fishing. Your brain wants to keep you comfortable because its safe, fight back a little or you'll just be a safe miserable jellyman.

It depends on your current fitness level. If you have never worked out then literally anything you do will be good for you as long as you remain consistent.
Generally speaking you want a routine you can adhere to without any setbacks (like injuries). You want your workouts to be evenly spaced throughout the week to avoid burnout and to allow enough time for your muscles to recover. Something like:
>Monday - chest and triceps (and shoulders too if you feel like it)
>Tuesday - rest
>Wednesday - back and biceps
>Thursday - rest
>Friday - legs and abs
>Weekend - light to moderate cardio
Start your workouts with composite exercises that use multiple muscles at once such as bench presses (pecs + triceps) or rows (back + biceps) and then move on to more isolated exercises that target a single muscle such as bicep curls or triceps extension

It's only the rest of your life if you let it be. You could do anything. You could commit crimes, you could have sex, you could commit crimes while having sex. The world is your oyster and you're gonna rape it

you know, i used to have tons of things that filled me with a sense of accomplishment years ago. but i did them ONLY because they were fun and interesting to me. then those things stopped being fun and interesting so i figured i might as well stop doing them. recently tried some of those things again, against my will, and i didn't really enjoy it but, you're right, i did feel good once it was over. i thought such things must give be fun/interesting to do otherwise "what's the point?". weird.

no, not really. i can really live a hedonistic life until i die and not feel bad about it. got a taste of it during covid and it was awesome. it really is the job that saps my will to live and energy.

Modern 9-5 work culture is the problem. It leaves no time for anyone to pursue anything meaningful. 2 days on the weekend and a measly few hours after work when you're exhausted is not enough to live and enjoy life.

>8 hours of free time
Free time doing stuff like getting ready for work in the morning, commuting to work then back home, all the chores you need to do to not be a disgusting slob, and making food that won't clog your heart or give you diabetes if you're somewhat aware of proper nutrition.

All those are free time. You're acting like staying alive is a task.

The whole 8x8x8 (8 hours of work, 8 hours of free time, 8 hours of sleep) thing is from literally 100 years ago where men would live within 5 minutes of their workplace and also have a wife doing their chores and housework for them. Its no longer fit for purpose with longer commute times and more atomized workers.
