Especially since the last handful of team events ended up being heavily weighted in favor of 'meme' options and didn't make them fun to compete in like that dog race one from a few years back. Plus those events usually had coupons if you did stuff and Valve doesn't want to give coupons anymore.
Most people don't have the money to buy a dozen $5 games in a sale these days to do arg stuff, and developers don't really reach out to arrange this stuff either.

(This can literally be as small as like 14 retards accidentally buying a $10 turd and not realizing they can refund it)
