Memes aside the Phoenix Downs being able to be used in dungeons is a really good sign.

Not only will this create more fun moments (like Tanks using clutch rezzes on healers), but it also makes it feel more like a Final Fantasy game. I hope this ends up affecting the way dungeons are designed in the future considering there is less 'healer pressure'.

I really want to get this off my chest. I know not everyone is happy with the state of the game. Believe me when I say I have my fair share of gripes, and Dawntrail is far FAR from my favourite expansion. But when I see cynical comments on posts from sprouts enjoying the story for the first time saying things along the lines of "Just wait until Dawntrail tanks the story" or other comments about the state of the game on completely unrelated posts, it makes me a little upset.
I am absolutely not one to shy away from voicing concerns, but just like how the community suffered from toxic positivity at times in the past, it would be a massive shame for our wonderful community to turn into toxic negativity. Either extreme harms the community and the health of the game. When the developers make good changes. Call out the good changes. If they make bad changes, call out the bad changes. Both positive and negative feedback is absolutely essential for the health of the game.
But if we are just hateposting under every single post, we're just giving sprouts a negative perception of not just the game, which still has a lot of good parts, despite the many flaws. But also of our community, which is something I often praise to newcomers.
There is a time and place for everything, and I think it's best to keep this kind of feedback mostly relegated to the relevant discussions.

Even for Endwalker which didn't release until December of the following year, the schedule was announced in February 2020, 22 months in advance. I remember when eureka came out. It took me a year to grind to level 20 in animos. Pagos was shit. Then bozja came out and it took me another 3 years to find the willpower to finish zadnar. Haven't even started the quest to unlock forked tower.
Raids are just so much fucking better than braindead grinds. I know a fuck ton more people who beat Kefka in stormblood than who even entered BA.
Talking with 7 people and making friends is just a lot more fun than grinding some mostly asocial "exploration" content.
I think the people who do that content either suck at raiding, have some form of anxiety, or have way too much time to spare. Quantum is a good idea on paper, but the rewards need to be on point, or it will die instantly. We've seen with Criterion how fast 4 man hard content dies if rewards are lacking, and Criterion didn't require a DD clear to enter and the overall playerbase was bigger in EW

Give it a go, it's definitely a nostalgia kind of game but if you can get past the graphics, controls and general interaction system it's a masterclass in MMO design.
Whatever you do until you quit, when you come back years from now you'll be at the exact same spot you left at. No rush to catch up to anything, no level skips or story skips or anything like that, you'll walk the same path millions walked before you. Rare drops that are now 20 years old will still be relevant and worth grinding for and exciting to get.
