Nearly every monster in the end-game is designed around the Wirebug system and if you brainlessly mash the escape you are going to get punished for it and die in situations where you would have been fine just staying on the ground. All you're doing by making a claim like that is admitting you likely played through it at launch and never touched it again.

The monsters are so shit now and the weapons are so stupid and over the top. I suppose it's inevitable when you have a series this long and a roster this big, but man, I loved the sort of prehistoric struggle feel of MH1 and Tri. Like pic related is the atmosphere I want. Not doing triple backflips and thousand cut i-frame counters on pokemons that shoot glowing rainbows and bubbles.

Now it all just feels like an uninspired anime instead of something cool.

The game isn't bad, it's just a handheld game. MH has always been weird because it's always had a lower budget than other projects. They kept the lower budget and Japan only, but with World they finally got the budget. Rise is a return to that handheld design but with some of the World featureset, but not everything that World offered. In the end, it was Capcom's hubris, since they have noactual competition, they thought people would gobble up an inferior product, all at full price. Meanwhile, other games were cheaper and had more content.

It’s just bad. It doesn’t feel like a monster hunter game. It isn’t even only about wirebugs. They removed all prep and RPG mechanics from the game. They completely removed the hunting part of monster hunter. Sure it wasn’t some monumental zenith of the gameplay, but hunting and tracking the monsters gave the games weight.

>no prep necessary, box in camp
>no more paintballs or psychoserums
>never lose track of monster again
>all mats are handed to you in massive stacks
>barely grinding left in a game series infamous for its grind
It’s little things that are up that modern games have removed in the name of muh QOL, that give games immersion, weight, and deliberancy. The appeal of those early games was the constant feeling of an uphill battle. Why remove that an appeal to brainrotted zoomers who have zero attention span? Why? It’s not just this game, the focus on QOL and subsequent rape and burial of its soul and immersive vibe seems to happen with any game series once it gets old enough. I’ve personally witness it happen to several beloved franchises from my youth, but monster hunter is probably the most obvious case study on why QOL and casualization is the death knell of soul
