how is scamming even a concept? It's only a matter of time until you're exposed and will have to face multifaceted repercussions. literally just dont scam, it's that easy.

I've made a few thousand dollars selling retro game reproductions as genuine, original copies. Mainly at flea markets or facebook meetups.
All you need is access to a good industrial printer (got one at my work), photoshop skills and patience.
I'll never forget those fat weirdos who would walk into my spot at the flea market with their eyes shining, thinking that they have hit the jackpot

Merchandise ratings aren’t about the functionality, anon. If you collect trading cards and you get one that’s insanely fucked up in the printing process, it could be tournament illegal but still fetch an insane price with collectors for being an oddity. It doesn’t matter if you can “play” a key card because that’s not what’s being graded here.
>>716416836
Could be manufactoring defects or damage from handling. Some grading services are notoriously tight-lipped about their standards though, so who knows.

What is there to complain about?
If they're a gamer, they open it up and, assuming the reproduction cart works, they play.
If its a collector, they may never even play the game or even open it if sealed.
The only person it hurts is the scalper who goes and tries to sell it again and someone smarter then him points out its fake.

These grading systems have autistic requirements. For example, a Yugioh card that is completely mint and untouched is not enough to receive a grade 10. They also consider factory print quality and centering. If the text box and borders are not perfectly centered on the card, points are deducted. Regarding OP's picture, it could likely be that the plastic has a slightly dull edge somewhere on the case.
>>716416836
Could be a printing error on the paper sleeve
Could even be an imperfect plastic wrapping.
Things that only autists care about but if you're getting something graded you're probably an autist anyway

Like this. There is only one copy of this Magic card in existence. It got a grade 9 because the person (left) who opened it probably touched it, and even if it's IMPOSSIBLE to see it by the human eye, through some kind of UV lens bullshit, the graders can find human body oil smudges on it from the fingers. It's really stupid. Even if opened with gloves, if the ink on like the top left or whatever is slightly off or the paper on the round edge is a molecule level of dented (even if that's factory stuff), it won't matter, no 10 is given. That means a actually mint (by non-retard standards) 1-of cards like this cannot get a 10 for autistic reasonings.
>>716416836
a 10 is incredibly hard to get.
the company keeps public records. For example, some recent switch game, that they graded over 500 times, and that the customers that sent them in sent them a lot of the time directly from the distributor, even then, out of those 500 there will be like 2 or 3 max 10/10

The thing is he didn't say "I sold a single cart for thousands" he said "made a few thousand selling reproductionS"
The S is important here.
No one is gonna bat at eye at buying a game for 120$ if its regular 200$.
>>716418226
Nigger a repro isn't worth 20$, much less 120$.
I probably wouldn't be a retard and mistake a repro for genuine, but I don't buy retrogames anymore anyway.
>>716418226
Even selling CiB the only people you're gonna fool are grannies, kids and actual retards. Any collector would immediately be suspicious about why a 30 year-old video game looks so new.
>>716417307
You completely miss the point. A video game is a functional and playable medium. The point of collecting is to have a functional piece of medium that you can possess and use at a future date. The cartridge inside the box contains zero games. Just access to a download. It’s worthless to anyone with half a brain collecting. The fact that they willingly graded it, shows how much of a scam video game grading has become. Comparing a video game to a trading card is apples to oranges. Video games are supposed to be more than a flat thing with a picture on it. But in a way, game key cards do have that in common with trading cards.
>>716416795
Its a graded game it might as well be an empty case it'll never be played either way hell for all anyone knows it could be replaced with something already
>>716418325
But there are plenty of grade 10s. It's just that opening a mint pack with gloves and handling it perfectly can still result in it being a 9 or less.
It's even dumber when you find out that a bunch of the graders won't even use gloves when checking the cards.
>>716419354 >It's even dumber when you find out that a bunch of the graders won't even use gloves when checking the cards.
Surely you can fine them for commiting such a crime against you
>>716419936
It's already been proven that resealed games have been graded and made their way back on to the market. It's not like anyone knows who these so-called video game grading experts are, or where they get their expertise from.
>>716420295
It's also still RNG and a lot of room for error. There's youtubers resending the same card after cracking them open from the grading cases and the grading going up and down, depending on the unknown person doing the grading. Again, they're heavily looking for flaws to inflate how big of a deal a 9 or 10 is. There's a reason why they use UV lights to detect INVISIBLE blemishes and count centering of ink.

Hold up I can get money for this shit?
I have a bunch of this crap from when my cousin died. This is just a sample of some of the crap that was dumped on me
