My biggest problem with CDPR and this game is that they took so long to release patch 2.3 only for it to be more vehicle colors, photo mode and other useless shit.
Hacking too many enemies while Overclock is activate with Sublimation and Feedback Loop perks still gives you negative ram recovery and slowly drains your hp even after Overclock is finished.
It's been years and they still can't fucking fix their fucked up ram regen calculations.

Your character lives in that world so it would make no sense for them to side with them.

There are plenty of ways the game acknowledge your choices and makes callback to them, as well as plenty of quest that don't entirely involve shooting people). The Crucifixion's Quest, The Racing Quest, THe Judy Tiger Claws quest, River's Quest, The Mayor Schizo Quest, Voodoo Boys Quest, basically every quest in PL are full of choices, THe Pickup maelstrom Quest with Jackie, some others.

Regarding your point about changing the world, the game constantly asks you what would that even look like. Just look at Judy's Tyger Claws quest. That's one of the primary reasons why Johnny is so pissed off. It's literally the point of a Cyberpunk Dystopia. This isn't some power fantasy where you defeat the evil God. Even the equivalent of that might as well have not have been in the game since it changes jack.

Maybe I missed something obvious but I never observed the corporations actually doing anything "evil" in the games. All of the 'negative' actions I can recall are a direct result of V or someone else doing bad towards the corporations first

Playing now and about 20 hours in. I've seen webms and clips of people doing 20k+ damage with pistol headshots. Is this even possible or are they cheating/modding? I see people say "Just stack damage modifiers bro." And I seriously doubt my weapons that do base 40 damage can do 20k+ with all the perks and modifiers that give like +2% damage each. They were the ones that pushed the degeneracy that led the world to this so Johnny is right in his anger and hatred, but wrong in that doing anything to the corps will change anything. I did a playthrough earlier this year, and getting the pistol damage perks/stealth perks, combined with stealth weapons that automatically give you a huge headshot bonus when unseen, it kinda trivialized the game. I ended up switching back to Archangel and going full cowboy instead, but even then that gun is still a 2 shot kill. I didn't even attempt a "build," just chose perks that suited pistols.

Corps being like crime organizations or as strong as govs is a general cyberpunk trope. It's how you implament it that matters. I played the game on launch so idk about patches and added content but the way corps are depicted in the original game was serviceable for the enviorment they are in. Could be better but you can say that about the whole game. All in all a decent sifi Shamen King simulator.
