The tariffs were calculated based on trade imbalances, which makes no sense. The US is not screwed by Vietnam because we buy their t-shirt, but they can't afford the same amount of jet turbines or medical imagine machines. Even at the reduced rates, these trade deals are nonetheless worse for the American consumer than what existed prior to April.

As it is, Trump fucked the bond market (American debt being low-risk is important for the value of the USD and keeping inflation abroad), boxed the Fed into an impossible macro situation between tariffs and the increasing deficit. Complete disaster.

There is no hope. The Fed(which is a private company and not government owned or ran by any government agencies whatsoever) almost doubled the US money supply during covid by just printing money because they're the only ones allowed to and that had a slow ripple effect on the entire economy because of course it's going to. When there's more money circulating, it's worth less and thus things cost more.

You should look at the extreme version of this, Zimbabwe, the president there just kept printing more and more money until you had people bringing in wheel barrows full of cash to go grocery shopping basically. As far as "citizens" being deported goes, they're paper citizens who had their citizenship revoked for committing federal crimes. Basically, foreigners who came to the United States the legal way and became citizens only to commit nasty crimes and get deported for those crimes.
