Jacob and esau wasn't that bad considering that you get double damage with 2 characters at the same time.

T. Laz is that but worse. You have to manage 2 characters at the same time with different items for each one, so you essentially have half the items in a normal run.

Bro there's so much shit going on in Isaac nowadays you're bound to come across at least one exploitable floor where you can flip a slew of items before the mom fight.
Go unlock some battery stuff if you're that shitty at milking a floor for all it's worth. T. Laz fucks hard if you know what you're doing. Boss rush is rough for him a lot of the time though, I'll give you that.

Even if you rig and get both items on every pedestal, the items will be distributed equally for normal laz and dead laz. So essentially, if you're lucky, you have a normal run. If you're not lucky, you will have fewer items than a normal run.

I get your point, but there are still cool advantages to having two builds in one run even if you can only use one at a time. Especially when override-heavy items show up like epic fetus. Also consider a lot of tainted character runs aren't gonna feel like a normal run under any circumstances, whereas T. Laz, like you said, can break that barrier with a little luck and ingenuity. He's not that bad.
