Bleed it Out definitely captures the angst of this phase well, and is very necessary to the album as a whole, but it doesn't epitomize the album like TLOGYA does.
TLOGYA also serves as the closing track, and a transitional piece to lead into A thousand Suns, which is the ultimate capstone of Linkin Park.

More bands need to have tracks where it's just music and no vocals.
We used to have high test nu-metal, post-grunge, skate-punk and alt metal but it got killed by low test indie "rock", screamo metalcore and emo pop punk shit. I think the strokes were the beginning of the end. A bunch of Jew York nepo babies larping as a lower middle class garage band. If something should have replaced the late 90s and early 2000s nu-metal and adjacent genres it should have been stoner rock. QOTSA mogged all the gay indie and emo shit and should have been more influential.
>>716488239A lot of bands do that, explore into Nine Inch Nails.
I'd actually recommend early NIN to a lot of anons in this thread, from The Downward Spiral to The Fragile, Linkin Park more or less were ripping off what NIN was doing years before them but streamlined it.
Albeit rent with NIN streamlined what Skinny Puppy/Ministry themselves were doing as well but NIN's music is still highly recommended to anyone who likes the first two Linkin Park albums.

>>716483505Maybe you're just not worth it?
i notice everyone who hates linkin park was and is a midwit. you have people at one side of the bell curve who are stupid people who like the band and smash cans with their head, then you have midwits who either think its fake music or somehow not as respectable as what they listen to, hipsters, snobs, and dorks, no one genuine or fun to be around. then on the other end of the bell curve are smart people who realize it just sounds good and is fun to listen to, who recognize there was a reason it was so popular everywhere at one time. just go do something fun and put the album on. go lift weights or exercise, or play some 2000s era game like dawn of war 1 or some FPS of your choice in deathmatch mode.
Listening to Hybrid Theory, while playing Sonic Adventure 2 is peak nostalgia. For me, my favourites are:
Hybrid Theory:
>Crawling
>Papercut
>In the End
>Runaway
>With You
Meteora:
>Don't Stay
>Somewhere I Belong
>Numb
>Lying from You
>Faint

Sorry to say, Linkin Park were barely Nu Metal, they were greatly poppified versions of what Slipknot/Okrn were ding and they themselves were ripping off more Experimental bands of their time. Linkin Park wrote music with Nu Metal/Industrial roots but put in shit ton of Pop hooks taht would be right up there with Imagine Dragons. Linkin Park were just as popular as Imagine Dragons are today.
I'm not saying Imagine Dragons are better than Linkin Park or MCR, but you're definitely reacting negatively not due to thea cutal music they made or are currently making, it is because you are told to dislike it.

growing up has been a disappointment after disappointment. i thought as an adult women would keep using the emo and scene style through their 20s, but they all just turned into instagram hos with kardashian makeup and thick block eyebrows, or maybe even worse turned into modern internet *****goth******brain rotted SJW freaks a few years later. its a losing proposition either way. those of you who used to like goth women know what i mean by goth and internet social networking goth it doesnt feel the same basically is just instagram goth. 90s/2000s goth looked different and they also mentally were different because the internet hadnt brain rotted everyone.
i think that was one of the most eye opening NPC moments was when i realized very few people actually LIKE something (like a style or aesthetic) and actually only do it while its trendy and then discard their previous identity like an article of clothing and reinvent themselves in the image of whatever else is current every 5 years or less.
I partially blame the internet for this making styles and trends accelerate so quickly. im getting tired so im sorry for this autistic rambling shitpost. the only alternative women i attract now have onlyfans and you guys know why i wouldnt get involved with that. monkey paw moment. clown world life.

>>716514819some kind of slow repetitive techno possibly german. maybe something with some industrial influences that mesh well in a gym full of muscular men grunting and lifting metal weights. it it would probably have german vocal samples of someone shouting push harder and other motivational phrases that would also be easy to misinterpret as being sexual in nature. maybe sections of a song where its just a man shouting multiple times to amp himself up before lifting a big weight. drum samples of a dumbell hitting the floor. things like that.

>>716514159People said that about Godsmack back then but it didn't sound, feel or look that way compared to previous or other bands at the time. To me, it was like a branch of metal ushering that new type of rock/metal heading into the mid-00s that lead to bands like Hell Yeah, Rev Theory, or Five Finger Death Punch later on. It had a bit more hard rock alt feel to it. I always viewed the start as that in-between WWF-WWE era of music, post 00s and 9/11, where it was a bit more emphasis on the machismo aesthetics. I still liked a few songs but I never really put all those bands together like that.
>>716514603I think it has to have a bit of a bounce or groove to the music while being heavy and angsty. They can also be quite experimental with a lot of different sounds. Generally as a result of new tech and instruments at the time.

love these fucking songs. i have strong associations with these. kind of a funny shitpost but i had my first gf when i found these, because i liked the songs i listened to them on repeat and unfortunately associate them loosely with her. (not a bad person or anything but sort of chaotic) we broke up and a handful of years later she finds me online when im in a relationship with someone else. she meets me and one thing leads to another and we rekindle an old flame. i spend the night with her. she tries to convince me to up and leave my entire life to come live with her in another state. includes leaving college. i tell her i cant because i dont want to leave my family and need more time to break up with my gf. somwhow my ex tells her friend and she tells my gf and all hell breaks loose.
sometimes i do wonder what it would have been like at a much younger age going and living somewhere else. i have no hope the relationship would have turned out well but i feel like the experience in another state would have been a good growing experience even if it was temporary and only lasted a year. oh well.
she later reached out again at the end of coivd and wanted to see me and get coffee but this time she had a bf. im glad we didnt meet. doubt anything good would have came from it hope shes happy wherever she is.

Imagine Dragons is the 'soaring cinematic trailer music' band. And just like those tend to all blur together, their shit blurs together.

But there's also so much bloated chaff in that genre that all sounds the same and just feels empty and hollow in its faux-epicness. Imagine Dragons is just constantly chasing the dragon of what their earliest songs were, league of legends-y shit. It'd be like if Linkin Park did nothing but chase being AMV bait their entire career.

>>716518897I just see them as symbolic of the 2010s to early 2020s decade because of how ubiquitous trailer music was. It was the same way that numetal was in the early 2000s where they'd randomly shove it into a game like Prince of Persia. My favorite thing was halo 2 where the soundtrack was literally 2 CDs - one with the game music, one with all these weird modern band tie-ins. And then youd' be progressing along in the covenant ship, then for some reason an atrium would have Breaking Benjamin BLOW ME AWAY kick in and it's not even a tough fight or anything special you'd just be pic related.
