What hypes me up more than anything is that the movement is fluid, yet has certain weight to it. This is something that all three Dark Souls games and Warframe lack, despite having a big melee focus, still feel floaty.
Another good thing is the hitstop, the hitstop duration is perfectly adjusted. A very split second and just a tiny bit longer for heavy attacks/blocks, this keeps the combat smooth. Space Marine 2 suffers from hitstops being too long.
Still don't like how weapons cleave/phase through targets in modern melee, but I guess considering the genre, it's not something too important.

Most special actions (combos, secondary cannon/bow charge, concentrate mode, etc.) use it.
This bar seems to have a "buffer" behind it which can be recovered with perfect parries. While Shadow Step is another different input combination to avoid killer moves.

If you're going to count that as significant then you should count that the game has face button square/triangle attacks as significant as well. And really anon, ladders? Did From now invent ladders and shortcuts as well? Have you ever played a first person dungeon crawler before? Despite all this, the game absolutely does take some influence from From's games, I won't deny that, but it looks like it has a lot of other influences going on as well.

The combat seems to have the same flow where you parry parry parry a combo then do some attacks/magic (I dunno if there will be some resource that you build up by parrying that you then use to power up attacks) then the enemy glows red and you parry their super attack, then you break their posture and do a combo/finisher, repeat.
It does seem to have a much higher budget and every boss super attack seems to have a unique parry animation if you parry it as opposed to just 2-3 generic ones and it looks much cleaner in general.
Could be fun. I liked Wo Long and if it's just the same game but better then I'm all for it. But it's definitely a souls-like or souls-lite or nioh-like, whatever you want to call it. Not really a classic PS2-3 era action game.

It's predominately Platinum and Ninja Gaiden thing. And seeing all the parries that move you to the side (like MGR's Defensive Offense), non-aerial combat, QTE stealth takedowns, QTE low HP executions AND the camera position, it's safe to say that it's taking notes from MGR first and foremost.
Hoping for a playable demo at ChinaJoy. I'm pretty sure they said there would be a playable demo for everyone at some point.
My main problem for this game is that it looks so easy. Are they on a modded playthrough or what? Seems like they're receiving hardly any damage.

It looks like the special attacks on L2 use a different resource as same with the Phantom Edges which are like sub weapons on R2.

There definitely is difficulty modes and we don't know what difficulty the OP video is on. From what I can tell, it looks like a game where enemies will do smaller hits to you and whittle you down more. So if you're fighting a group, each individual hit may not do tons of damage but the faster enemies will be able to hit you more often if you're not good and it'll quickly add up. But I'm sure there's going to be stronger hits that do huge chunks of damage as well but I don't feel like digging through all the footage right now.
