I know you're shitposting but I actually do have an idea for getting around this while not forcing people to pay for a "fast pass" DLC thing.

Basically it's a special tournament mode called "Event Mode" that unlocks every character all at once but once you go into it you can't get out of it - you have to close the whole game to leave it. The rules are tournament-standard settings that can't be adjusted (besides maybe how many matches make up a set). Once every character is unlocked the Event Mode option disappears and you just launch standard Versus Mode afterwards (which could have a Event Mode setting that locks in all the settings like the dedicated Event Mode would).

Also every character could be played from the start in Practice Mode, you wouldn't have to unlock anyone to try them out in practice.

Also matches can be restarted or taken back to the select screen while in play. You just can't return to the main menu once Event Mode is launched.

This game looks too simple and too complex at the same time if that makes sense. It looks like the neutral is boring, but the combo potential is gonna be autistic when people learn how to exploit the assist and tag systems.

The wallbreak only triggers with certain moves.
Unlike Strive where anything can make them stick to the wall just because they're near it, you can avoid the wallbreak in tokon if you don't want to.

All right, let's do this one last time.
Quick Summary!
Assists have their own meter and can cost to summon them
Matches start with only 1 assist unlocked, the other 2 can only be unlocked through stage transition (???)
Assists can also be unlocked through wall combos, yes really
Assists can be unlocked by 1 for losing a round
EX moves that function like DBFZ where H is the EX
100 meter that goes to 150, also increases by 25 per stage transition
Universal air dash
Assist type depends on the slot the character is in at the time
Slot 1 is "Shooter", "mainly projectiles"
Slot 2 is "Vertical", "generally anti-air"
Slot 3 is "Assault", basically seems to be different per character
NOTE: Assists, as far as we know, are unchangeable, and there is no assist select. So that means you will ALWAYS have ONE type of assist EVERY TIME in the appropriate slot. If you want a different assist, you'll need to figure out how to creatively switch around.
Air assists are the same regardless of position
REGULAR assist calls are free, but pressure combo assists cost assist
Seemingly invincible overhead that costs assist meter you can do, can also stage transition, called "Assemble Smash"
You can use all 3 assist meter to spend on AS for more damage and still combo
Aerial version doesn't have invincibility, but is projectile invincible and travels about half of the screen at a decent pace
"Assemble Counter", spend assist meter to counter with your assist character
Command inputs, yes indeed! Quick Special function where you can do specials with a button and motion like Granblue, also features a damage buff if you do the motion manually.
UNIQUE button like Blazblue where every character does a unique action to them.
DHCs (Delayed Hyper Combo, IE, switching in to another Super while you're already doing one) can only be done at the cost of Assist meter, and you seemingly cannot do it for Level 3s.

The autocombos only being used as specific combo routes and most of the time it was for a specifc normal that was in the middle of an autocombo (a lot of chars had routes that actually had you whiff a 5A mid combo to get to the 5AA or 5AAA after it). Yeah, I understand why someone who is used to Tag fighters don't like this idea.
In my case, I love it because it means I can at least main one character for a while and slowly learn more characters. Before that the character learning curve was always just too much for me, I was good with one character and would get fucked everytime I had to play the others. With this game, people will be able to play it like a 1 character + assists or like the usual tag system with character swap, the second one will obviously be the main way to properly play the game, but newfags will be able to enjoy it with just one character at the beginning.

This is pretty much what I liked about all the old fighting games. Literally every modern fighting game now have supers which are pretty much 1 hit that you're supposed to use in a combo and leads to a fucking cinematic (which also doesn't make any sense). It has no utility nor look impressive.

I liked Rose's and Yang's multi hit super. Gen's countdown instant death super. Takuma had a counter super. Air grabs, super modes, supers that dizzied the opponent, lore supers (Ryu's Alpha 3 metsu shoryuken), Spiral's hovering knives in MvC2, unblockable Galactica Phantom and so on. They were fun, had variation and visually pleasing (it didn't zoom in so you couldn't see what the fuck was going on). Even SF5 at least had V-Triggers that gave some utility and uniqueness

Now look at modern supers. I'll give 2 examples.
Guile SF6:

>hits opponent in the air
>air dash homing chase then somehow? Like a GG-style dust attack

There are two main elements to being good at fighting games, execution and what I would call theory or strategy. Execution is the thing you are talking about, the thing that comes about from drilling in lab for hours. This is how people do long combos, hit difficult to execute combos, convert into combos off of stray hits and play a responsive defense, they can hit buttons fast and accurate. This is often the aspect of fighting games that people obsess over and they often think it's why they are losing to better players. Often however, that is not true. Theory matters a lot more. Understanding "when I block this move he is vulnerable for a brief moment and then it's my turn" is what wins fighting games. This kind of stuff is different from game to game too so while the process of learning a new game is something someone can get good at (for instance J Wong is known to be really good at this, it's why he bodies people on release day but then never wins major tourneys) but someone can play a single game and learn it really well and be better than someone like Justin who knows the process of how to learn a game. Ultimately understanding things like spacing, what's safe on block and what isn't, what converts into combos easily, what creates difficult to block mix-ups, what mix-ups your opponent has and the ability to see them coming and call them out with the right option and more similar things are what really decide a fighting game. I'm actually living proof of this too, I hate drilling combos in training so I don't. In most fighting games I play I reach top ranks with suboptimal combos because my fundamentals are better than most people's, including the trogs that think if they drill a single optimal combo in training they're guaranteed to win.

tl;dr you could beat any of these old heads if you committed to actually learning a game, especially if you commit to a single game and learn its fundamentals in and out
