World of Warcraft Azerothcore/Single Player Project
Since retards make threads everyday shilling for either failed/trooned private servers or yet another garbage expansion from Blizzard that "will totally fix everything this time guys trust me" I wanna make a thread about Azerothcore and the Single Player Project. I haven't seen a thread about it in a while anyways.

>What is the Single Player Project?
It's setting up and hosting a local wow server yourself. The server can be filled with bots that play the game to emulate real players. There's also various modules to tailor the server to your preference. Like allowing any race/class combo, progression locking, transmog, etc.

>How easy is it to setup?
Depends on how you want to set things up. If you want to do it the proper way, then setting up Azerothcore on a virtual machine takes maybe 30 minutes to an hour when you follow along with guides that can be found on YouTube. Then you can add modules and tweak world settings to your preference.

Here's a decent guide for setting up Azerothcore on a VM.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcwGJDgoKsI&t=4s

If you want a fun new virus on your machine or to mine bitcoin for some Slav then you can also just install a repack.

>Will a repack actually fuck up my pc?
Being serious, probably not if from a well known source. It has happened in the past though. Heres a link to SPP classics that's safe and should be easy to install.
https://github.com/celguar/spp-classics-cmangos/releases

It's still better to compile a server manually for max reliability/server customization and being able to update everything whenever you want. So personally I advise against repacks.

>Can I raid/pvp with the bots?
Yes and Yes.

Have some dude fighting ony as an example.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghenl07RPO8

>Can I talk/ERP with the bots
Playerbots have a generic list of speech they pull from. However people have been working on setting up a LLM to chat with the bots. Still WIP but might be worth checking out.

I recently stopped working on an azerothcore-based project because it seems like it's the shittier option. If i was to continue, i'd port my work to trinity core, but i CBF.

It's supposed to be designed to make modding easier, but the documentation is really lacking. As a result I ended up fucking with the core instead of using their funny module system, as well as a few scripts with eluna, which also has arse docs.

If you want to do things like multi-class/classless, customize NPC equipment beyond 3 items, and mess with things like the languages, you have to do bend-over backwards C++ anal-gymnastics to achieve anything.

Anyway not to discourage you, i hope you make something cool.

>solo-player
If you mean doing raids and dungeons completely solo then that is something you can setup. A module for Azerothcore literally called solocraft is specifically for that.
https://www.azerothcore.org/catalogue.html#/details/113240184

There's also nothing stopping you from inviting other people to your server if you wanted. It's still a private server like any other.

I'm just a retard who follows guides and presses buttons and was still able to set everything up without issue. So I can appreciate azerothcore for that. I think these types of projects have a lot of potential. Retards can't see it because they think AI will always be the way it currently is. In 10 years, I think we'll have AI that's good enough to simulate an MMO server so perfectly that you won't be able to tell you're playing with real players or not.

Depends on what you want out of it. If you really like the leveling experience of wow then you just have a server that you can always have available to hop on and level a character. If you like raiding but hate having to deal with discord circle jerk autists like myself. You can now raid without needing to deal with that anymore. It's also just nice to always have a server that you can call yours instead of always having a chance for a server to go down and you losing all your characters.

>>717050661
That's literally what I'm doing right now. I'm leveling a bunch of characters so I can take them all into raids going through Classic
>>717042707 (OP)
this webm is really embarassing OP, especially when you know it's against a bot too... running out of mana and wanding them down? christ. you're at 1% mana when they had full mana, anyone on a pvp server with a functional brain should have beat you
>>717050356
You could probably convert WoW into a fun single player game, but it would take a lot more work than just slapping bots into the world. Probably could take notes from Elder Scrolls for what the game is missing. Probably the biggest thing is any reason whatsoever to explore. There is almost never anything to find off the beaten path in WoW. Most quests are found in quest hubs and your quest target is marked with addons (and quest descriptions often don't give you a good hint of where to go).
>>717051267
This is really only the case from TBC onward. You could probably throw in a lot of random bs in your own private version of vanilla wow
>>717051190
Yeah I was wondering why the bot didn't heal itself. Maybe it was one of those Paladins that played one handed and wanked while they played.
>>717042707 (OP)
Anon, fbis might be a stupid question. But is there any possible way to do a single player version of the twow server? Like if I wanted to play all that custom content and class changes, minus all the trannies on the server, is that doable?
>>717051190
I actually never noticed that. Usually the bots are ontop of healing themselves when they start to take damage.

>>717051518
I would imagine its possible in theory. How you would actually go about doing that I have no idea, sorry anon.
>>717051518
Just reverse engineer their server the same way people reverse engineered WoW to make private servers. Or steal their backend from them with social engineering. Or hack them. Lots of ways.

>Players are such pieces of shit that it became more pleasant to play with literal bots, unironically.
>Was already used to it playing GW1 with mercs anyway.
I enjoy it, I was already playing alone 95% of the time anyway.
Only reminder that I was playing an MMO was seeing people run around here and there, which the bots can do.
>>717054998
>Players are such pieces of shit that it became more pleasant to play with literal bots, unironically.
this is about 90% of it for me, retail is pozzed shit but pservers being free means you have to deal with children, third worlders, etc.

How is wpvp on these servers
do bots attack each other
do bots raid citys
how is BG pvp
Tried the LLM.

>>717055404
wpvp is a possible and depending on the amount of bots you add you might get jumped constantly. They aren't perfect in pvp but it works.
Bots do attack each other also.
I don't think they attack cities without you starting a raid of bots and attacking with them.
BG pvp is alright from what I've tested. Again, not perfect but it works.
>>717055515
>undead Percival
Holy Kino
Tried the Humans to see if maybe they would be less robotic with the LLM. Donus has bot ADHD and wants to talk to every mob. I asked "Nigga, are you a druid?" because he kept on talking about King Varian Wrynn to wolves.
>>717055515
there's LLM integration for the solo servers? interesting. no way i could run both though.
>>717055930
I tried Azerothcore couple of weeks ago and I could not find anything related to LLMs. Even used perplexity to search the web...
I guess it's probably hidden behind some discord faggotry then, I don't know.
Is there a core that's more up to date on the expansions front? I'm running azerothcore wotlk but depending on how much I enjoy myself, I might wanna keep going further.
>>717056034
to be honest though i'd only want it to be active for my party members, i don't need it for every NPC and merchant. maybe just important ones like Thrall etc or for our character's plots.
>>717056062
No, because newer WoWs changed their internals quite a bit. That's why WOTL is the last one with proper bot support and everything else. Or this is what I remember reading.
Legion is playable solo but it won't have any bots.
Do the bots play in the world and level up/collect gear independently, or does the server just spawn them whenever the player wants people?
>>717056207
They run around and do tasks, deliver quests and pick up new ones. If you let the server run they'll level up in the meanwhile.
It's still obvious they are bots but WoW is such a simple game..
>>717056034
No? It's not. The OP literally has the link on how to do it.
Use Have Kobold set up and running before you start the server. Then use
>nc +ai chat
as a Non-Combat strategy to whatever bot you want to chat to.

>>717056207
It does both. Whatever settings you want. I can run in and I'll have bots running around doing BGs and grinding.
>>717049827
I haven't touched WoW yet, but in my case it's mostly that tinkering with the server and customizing stuff to my liking is fun. Of course it'd be more fun if I had friends willing to join in, but they're inevitably not interested so whatever.
Speaking of LLM's, I installed the ollama chat bot integration, but it's so horrifically disappointing. I expected jibber-jabber from the bots in general chat about random shit, you know, random chatter about contemporary events or topics, shower thoughts from the bots essentially.
Instead, the bots are really reactive instead of proactive, and have to be queried for almost any kind of response. They don't chat randomly amongst themselves at all and I have to ask them a question to get anything going, but it's just a question-answer pipeline that ends really quickly. They're also unusually in-character which is ironic, they end up not sounding like MMO players at all.
The configuration file is really big and I'm hoping I just need to configure shit correctly, but I don't really know how. At least, I'd like them to chat without being prompted to. Here's the config file if anybody thinks they can help out. If it helps, I could set it up with any model I can download from ollama: https://pastebin.com/kyKGbze1

So is there any way to boost the Token count for the LLM? Even in aiplayerbot.cfg I change the token from 100 to 512 yet it stays at 100 for max_length. Where is this Json file? because it looks like I have to manually edit that, since it pulls from that.
>>717056793
ask /aicg/ on /g/ or /vg/, they could probably help you with AI roleplay
>>717054998
I like it for doing all the content most players dont wanna see. it's impossible to get a gnomer or brd run without some russian leaving the moment someone takes a wrong turn or does an extra boss.
I noticed that even retail WoW has npc dungeons and battlegrounds now. It's a weird timeline but at least this is free and has no moderation so that's a plus. I wish I still had friends so I could convince them to play this with me and just fuck around for a week.
>>717042707 (OP)
I tried SPP Classics a while ago, ran a TBC server with 6000 bots. Worked beautifully after some initial config file hassle, both the server and the player client up on the same PC and I never heard even a hiss from my CPU fan. Is Azerothcore the same thing?
I really loved levelling alts in WoW so this sounds appealing to me, but at the same time I feel like it could amplify withdrawal symptoms and make me more depressed that all the guildmates I raided with back in the day are long gone.
>>717060532
One big issue I had when running a single player TBC server was the feeling of void generated by the bots. If you speak up in any chat, some of the bots present will reply to you with canned responses that don't relate to your message in any way. It somehow makes the world feel even emptier than if you never spoke up at all and just let the simulation run around you.

I'd imagine to someone in rehab from real WoW, going "hi" in gchat and getting bot-snarked for it would quickly cause a relapse.
>>717042707 (OP)
>azerothcore
what's the difference between this and the cmangos one?
>>717061201
I think azerothcore is more actively maintained. That being said, attempting to install azerothcore is tantamount to looking cthulhu straight in the eyeballs. Few can withstand the madness that'll course through their bodies and the ones that do come out the other end different men altogether.
>>717061519
yeah it has a crazy learning curve if you've never done server stuff or know how to code or any of that shit. it's doable but expect to troubleshoot. GPT could probably help. repacks are a lot easier.
>>717058675
You need to edit its respective system prompt or whatever else it sends to the model. Then tell it simply to write long answers, over 200 tokens long.
If the model's reply is literally cut off after 100 tokens then it's a config issue and not related to the prompts sent to the model.
>>717058675
>>717062071
Figured out the issue. Took a while since I'm a codelet.
From the Server menu
>Server Info
>Bot Config
>Remove the # in front of the line that had changes made to it
>Save
>Start Server.

I modified the prompt to have 512 tokens and use flowery language. Never again. It takes too long and will hang up and not post anything for a while.

It's cool though. Asked this low level mage where her pants went because she didn't have any equipped. Said she had a magical mishap and vaporized them.

It's somewhat censored unless you know how to avoid this, but size wise pretty good and it's easily like over 8B model. It could just about work in WoW but don't expect any miracles.
>>717062756
I have some Mistral Nemo Instruct that I'm using because can barely run shit. It's pretty quick when I use it with just Kobold. I think the Game>Kobold>Game pipeline is where the slow response time come from.

>>717055328
They both have the same goal but a different way of implementing it. SoloCraft buffs you to make up for lack of group members, whereas Auto Balance compensates this by nerfing mobs and bosses.
Don't use both at the same time.
