The gameplay and movement was so good and the game was incredibly solid, i was genuinely excited to learn what was going on entering the boss room and then you just get that fucking stupid ass white screen ending where you (poorly) find out you're just in some girls dream.

Did i miss the real ending or something? Genuinely chapped. Also the princess was too easy, literally impossible to die considering you have nearly unlimited heals. The camera jumping around was bad. The ending honestly feels unfinished and like demo compared to the rest of the game, really takes away from the experience. Unironically would have had a better opinion if i got all 5 keys and stopped playing

They could have at least given you a little render of Sybil or something, any kind of splash screen. SOMETHING.

That said the only real complaint is the camera jittering, the z-lock this game uses is pure jank that you're better off without it.

I went into the game completely blind (have it through steam family share) after i saw cute art in another thread so I didn't know the story at all until that ending. It's not mentioned anywhere in the game from any npc or any of the totems that tell you some of the lore of the fantasy dream world so it was quite a rug pull for me when i got to the ending. I'm not upset about what the ending was about, i'm upset it felt like i got no reward for finishing the game except a white screen, like 8 lines of text that were just about an apathetic girl waking up and a white screen

I guess that's fair, having a reward could've been nice but honestly, the game is just a baseline example of what happens when someone goes balls deep into prioritizing gameplay above all else, which is why the level design looks like those upside down staircase paintings rather than something aesthetically cohesive (the underbelly definitely looks like the most tech-demoish out of all levels).

If it makes you feel better, the game has those mini time trials that reward you with outfits that range from cool to sexy (Guardian is a damn super high cut leotard) and that's better than whatever you get out of the ending.

Yeah the challenges are fun. The gameplay is top notch, I was genuinely impressed at how much you can interact with the level once you get your full kit. And the movement system does a great job of giving you a lot of freedom while also not making you overpowered and capable of completely breaking the game (except like glitches and "tech"). I never felt limited by the movment, only my creativity.

Guardian outfit was the best, i haven't finished all of the trails but as soon as I got the guardian outfit it was all i wore LOL

the game was a short game jam game orignally, game jams are events where a group of devs make a game with a certain theme (sometimes) and a short time limit (as short as 1 day, but usually 1-8 weeks)
with that as context, it makes sense why the ending is so underwhelming, it basically IS a demo ending

I think the Princess was a fun fight despite the camera jittering when she does that DBZ shit where she teleports everywhere in the arena, it's one of those boss fights where you can just go along and dance with the boss' attacks rather than taking the standard route. Reflecting back the homing shots before wailing on the princess was satisfying. Also that final boss track is damn nice (whole soundtrack goes hard, never thought an unfinished game would have such a banging soundtrack)

This game is cool but the obsession is unhealthy

There needed to be a last zone after getting all the keys built entirely around traversing having all the movement abilities to really capstone it and show what's possible with the movement tech (without needing to do obnoxious kaizo shit like super slide jumps of course). Going straight into a boss fight that doesn't even make use of any of your abilities was a lame way to end off.

Better yet someone needs to release a braindead easy to use map maker for the game, something like Halo's Forge or Far Cry's Arcade that's easy to make maps in and share to give the game a second life.

Low frame rate looks bad and makes the movement feel weird. The animation is super smooth without it on and looks great. The fuzzy filter makes the textures blend nicely and it seems like the models and textures were designed with that in mind. Your eyes get used to it like a crt pretty quickly and it ends up looking better.
