I guess that's fair, having a reward could've been nice but honestly, the game is just a baseline example of what happens when someone goes balls deep into prioritizing gameplay above all else, which is why the level design looks like those upside down staircase paintings rather than something aesthetically cohesive (the underbelly definitely looks like the most tech-demoish out of all levels).
If it makes you feel better, the game has those mini time trials that reward you with outfits that range from cool to sexy (Guardian is a damn super high cut leotard) and that's better than whatever you get out of the ending.
