Anyways, SA2 is one of my all time favorite games. The speed stages have legitimately some of the highest highs of any gaming experience out there, it feels orgasmic to successfully chain a spindash into a giant sequence breaking jump and leaping onto a vaulting pole and then leaping off that and landing on a dashpad, running down a slope, homing attacking from eneemy to enemy over a gap, and then landing on a rail to grind down seamlessly.

The Mech and Treasure stages are, certainly, not as good, but they're not bad. Most of the mech stages are perfectly serviceable for what they are, especially if you actually try to go for a high score via lock on combos. The treasure stages are more of a mixed bag but there's a good to great one for every iffy to bad one. You just gotta accept that they're meant to be slower exploratory experiences where you chill out and roam around while smooth rap/jazz plays

On that note the soundtrack is incredible. There's also various multiplayer modes, missions to replay, a whole kart racing sidegame, and the Chao garden is fleshed out enough to be it's own entire seperate game and the rings and animals and drives you pick up in the main stages feeding into the Chao garden gives you an incentive to replay those, while the garden also provides a thing to take a break with it's a very synergistic setup

The game's absolutely got some jank and lacks polish, though

Sonic Adventure 1 tried to give almost every character involved an arc and their own gameplay

His story's climax is literally nutting up and taking care of business when Sonic's "dead." He's also taking charge during the rest of the story and not crying for Sonic to tell him what to do. How on earth is that "rolling back his progress"? In fact, Tails' character growth stays mostly intact well into the 2000s, surprisingly. Sure he's still a kid and has his weak moments, but he mostly has his own agency outside of Sonic until around '06. Now, AMY is the one who's character got rolled back immediately after SA1, since her entire arc in that game was her being more independent, and less hyper-fixated on Sonic, which is the polar opposite of what happens in SA2. I'm not even an Amyfag and I'm disgusted at how quickly they threw that out the window, like god damn. Say what you will about Ian Flynn and how he writes Amy, (it's trash, I agree) but 2000s Amy was NOT much better, objectively speaking. Her entire personality revolved around Sonic's dick, with her friends being secondary to it. No amount of mental gymnastics or contextless, cherrypicked pieces of dialogue can deny this. Yeah, she was more entertaining this way, but that doesn't make her a "good" character on a narrative level. Look, both Ian's Amy and 2000s Amy can be shit. It's okay to admit this.

The rest you are correct about though. SA2 is largely a downgrade over SA1 when you strip away LE KINOOOOOOOOOO moments in between gameplay.

Damn man, I've seen a lot of his Sakura stuff before (them cheeks), but I didn't realize it went that deep. He is definitely built different than other artists mentally, but I can't help but to love how he draws posteriors.
Dude also does a great Sarada, some Hinata, and a bunch of other chicks from different properties.
