How to overcome my video games addiction?
I'm a 4th-year college student and I'm supposed to be graduating soon, but I still have 3 exams to retake this summer.

Problem is that I've spent the entire month playing video games and shitposting on 4chan. It's like I'm glued to my PC and can't do anything else. I've tried to turn off my computer, but I end up feeling extremely bored/lonely.

Now I've only got 1 week left, and I'm freaking out because I haven't even started studying.

Buy a taser and tase your nuts every time you play a game. You'll stop playing games, guaranteed.

Just keep doing what you're doing.
Not like you'll achieve anything anyway since you can't prioritize anything.

Put yourself in a environment where ypu don't have videogames, like come back to your parent's house or something, or use an appblocker like cold turkey blocker (you can set up blocks for only certain parts of the day to force you to work for a few hours).

^^This worked the best for me, do it somewhere else in your house, not in a room where your computer is. Go to the library if you have to, and don't bring your phone

Your "addiction" is a symptom of a bigger problem. You probably feel insecure about your ability to succeed and you're scared to start studying. This fear makes you retreat into easy dopamine like 4chan, video games, porn, etc.

Just start. It's the only way. Please trust me as someone who has experienced the same. Fear will kill you and your future, but you CAN succeed.

There are probably three causes for your addiction:
>1. Displacement activity
When you're under stress, you start doing primitive activities that you used to enjoy. You can read more about this on Wikipedia.
>2. Habit
Do you have some kind of habit that makes you go to 4chan, and then you continue to scroll endlessly because you're still interested in this activity, or for the first or third reason. Try to find out when exactly and why exactly you go to 4chan, what you feel
>3. Coping mechanism
You experience negative emotions, but try to get rid of them by browsing 4chan. Scrolling shuts your brain up and you become fully engaged. Try coping with other things, any activity except emotional coping. The closer it is to solving the problem that is causing you stress, the better. But it could even be cleaning the room

In all three cases you can do this:
>Try to find out your trigger points, at what exact moment you log on to 4chan and why, why, what kind of feelings you are experiencing
>At this very moment try to be as aware and feel everything that you feel as possible and analyse your actions neutrally and thoroughly, imagine that you are looking at your room from above
>You're trying to mobilise all your willpower not to go on 4chan. Resisting urge is easier and most likely more successful than trying to stop scrolling, catch at least one moment when you are not scrolling and grab that moment with a death grip
>Replace the activity with any other, the main thing is less degenerative and harmful, even if you feel unpleasant in the process. Endure boredom and endure unpleasant sensations, learn to tolerate pain

Endless scrolling, video games and porn «addiction» are just symptoms of shitty life, health issues or loneliness, and also not classed as an addiction. Don't look for the easy way out. Even the smallest step to solve the problem will reduce stress. Do what you have to do, there are no cheat codes or easy ways, just make an effort or fuck off

I spent almost all of my awake time staring at the screen. I'm also at uni but not failing though.

>Internet addiction
No such thing. You're not failing because of muh addiction, or due to laziness, you're failing because you're a retarded low IQ faggot.

Its gonna get worse when you graduate. Cause then you'll just be playing vidya all day instead of looking for a job

And that takes time so you'll be deeper in the hole as you are waiting for your applications to inevitably get rejected

You have to say "I'm not allowed to do anything I want to do until I do my quota of study for the day" and adhere to it. Seriously.

No such thing as videogame addiction, but here's some advice

>cut out life service or gacha slop
>go to the library instead of using your PC, gaming is unbearable on shitty companies and you will be embarassed to browse 4chan in public.
>clean your room
>install filters like https://one.one.one.one/ on your phone and pc (toggle settings on pic related)
>make vocabulary/index cards and try to remember information
>get yourself banned from 4chan by posting anti-Trump or pro-trans shit. The jannie are right-wing and will ban any progressive on here for arguing with conservatives. An easy way to do this is to make a thread denouncing Trump or nazism. The bans aren't permanent, it is either 3 days or a week.
