You can be involved in a community centered around a particular subject, and when something happens with that topic/subject, "everyone" will be talking about it and it will be the "biggest news"... In reality it is only because you are only interacting with that particular community about it, the larger population that isnt actively involved with it doesnt care or may even have a different opinion about it upon review.

If you ask vtuber fans whether they would like vtubers in games, and only get opinions from people that engage with that media, then that's sampling bias. When releasing something that is supposed to appeal to the largest possible audience, I dont think it will work. Keep them out of games.

I never said it was a niche genre. More realistically it's because Smash Bros has refined it so well and Nintendo has such a massive roster of beloved characters(just look at how much Sony struggled to fill out a small roster) that it's extremely unlikely anybody else will be able to match it. SSB has a phenomenally well-refined mix of style, presentation, adaption and execution underlying the unmatched recognition. It's part of the reason why the games have been miles ahead of any competitors despite being exclusive to a single platform.

Because the entire vtubersphere tries to mimic Hololive.
Even on /vt/ you can see this.
"Hololive Global" was made specifically because it was supposed to house discussion for JP, EN, and ID Hololive members (hence "Global").
If you go on /vt/ right now and filter "Global", you'll see tons of threads having it in their name for NO OTHER REASON beyond Hololive Global having it.
If there's a random term you see in vtubing (i.e. graduating, roommates, etc.) it's because of Hololive, and Hololive gets it from Japanese Idol culture because Hololive was built on Japanese Idol culture.

Was the V-tuber worshipper fag just the next step of evolution of the waifu fag? At least the waifu fag was indulging in a fantasy (sometimes pushed into their own distorted reality) but it was in the character entirely. With V-tuber fags, I find it more perverted because deep down, they know there is a person behind that persona/avatar they are idolizing and fapping to, and that person is not the avatar. Or it's a more hilarious version of celebrity worship, where people get whiplashed when they meet their "heroes" and said heroes are much different folks when they are not in front a camera.
