Hence, there are Dark Elf farmers. And the model of mass aggregate farming is not feasible everywhere. Some geographical areas will favor smaller farms, and those farms yet again wont be helmed by slaves.
There are, therefore, small time Dark elf farmers who maybe own 1-2 slaves and another 1-2 servants who aren't fit for manual labor.
There's also, obviously, Dark elves that are less well off but not slave status. Paupers, poors etc. day laborers.
Craftsmen, blacksmiths etc. slaves can do some of this work, but not all. Being a sole blacksmith in a small village will give you a lot of power. Here, slaves simply are a bad choice. There would always exist regular craftsmen as well.
These people wouldn't engage in the traditional dark elf backstabbing to nearly the same extent. There's literally nothing to gain from that.
