Can someone explain to me why exactly this game is the most hated in the series?

I haven't seen a single anon say anything positive about it. Its like this is the modern day Sonic 06 or Superman 64.

Characters are boring
The world/exploration is boring

It does have good qualities. It just plays it dreadfully safe on all fronts. It's a very sterile experience as a result. JRPG by the numbers, if you will. Still has a lot of polish and it's worth playing, of course.

Just started paying it today.
-The fake swear words are infuriating, they're as bad as the scottish accents in dragon quest at taking me right out of the experience.
-Also the music is atrocious in parts. Lots of songs have that irish flute in it, making it sound like the theme song to Titanic by Celine Dion. And the battle theme is even worse than the one in chrono cross (it has the same annoying instruments)
Mitsuda did some great work in the 90s but he really needs to be taken out the back and shot.
-The japanese voice acting is REALLY bad. I'm going to actually mute it altogether if i keep playing.
-The writing is terrible. I'm about 2 hours in and i already have absolutely no clue what's going on. Right off the bat the game dumps you in the middle of a war that seems to have been going on for centuries. You have 1) no idea who anyone is, 2) no idea why they're fighting, 3) no idea what the fuck is going on at all. It makes the opening cutscene which is about 35 minutes long, unbearably stupid.
-The shounen anime style crying and screaming of dialogue....
