That is more of an indirect consequence, not because of the anticheat itself. Anticheat methods eventually had no choice but to keep up by going kernel level because the cheats and mod menus themselves were getting up to that level as well. Yes, you read that right. These hacking kiddies are using these programs from faceless unknown people that sell cheats for a living which needs kernel level access. Ideally I wouldn't want either, but it was an escalating arms race that had one obvious endgame. Now you have these cheaters that are literally handing these digital crooks the keys to their entire kingdom. Not so smart.

>comparing it to kernel level anti cheat
I feel like these people don't know what they are saying.
drivers are kernel level, are you afraid of installing random drives from some ghetto mouse or usb device?

kernel level anti cheat is just what people call it to refer to the invasive always on from boot anti cheat that monitors everything your system does. not that it being literally kernel level is the issue.
they are referring to EAC, which turns off when you close the game, which you can trivially uninstall, which doesn't prevent you from getting rid of it.
people complain about shit like vanguard which you cannot easily get rid of and makes a big deal of it, which is required to be ran on boot before most of your operating system loads, and monitors everything your computer does. I think any sane person can see the difference.
they want secure boot and want to interface with it, so they want to do the same thing.

cheating and anti cheating software are in a continuous arms race especially in today's age with cheating side having the advantage and being more ubiquitous given you can put it almost everywhere and it's much more advanced than anti cheat software. Paid cheats are so advanced that very often 3rd party methods (overwatch, demo reviews, etc) can't catch these bad actors unless they review the footage frame-by-frame or at an extremely slow rate and even then you may or may not be sure if the person's footage you're looking at is cheating. Just watch literally any video on how bad it is right now.

>the issue software engineers have struggled with for decades
Look back through competitive shooters' history.
Things like aimbots, wallhacks, etc. actually used to be a solved problem on the server side.

This required a specific zero-trust model of programming to be used though, which was 'hard' for junior developers to deal with and thus cost a lot of money. Which triggered publishers to motivate studios to stop working that way once game consoles became the primary deployment target. Because those were a walled garden where you *could* actually trust the game client (at least at the time, before hardware-level interception gizmos became a thing).

This suddenly enabled all kinds of security shortcuts to be taken, which lowered development time and cut costs. And it also enabled to lean on the client for computing more performance-sensitive things by itself without having to have the server re-compute the authoritative version. Meaning lower operation costs at the server level as well.

In short:
This was a solved problem,
until the bean counters got involved.

OK, you're just retarded.

Cheating is only possible if you don't do server side anti-cheat, validation and game logic. And if you don't have any server side cheat detection and punish cheaters.
All the games you've listed are using client-side logic for information which is meant to be hidden, and none of them seem to do any proper server side logic/validation to confirm that the game state is legit and that you're not tampering with input.

You do realize that cheating will always exist as long as the game devs/publishers don't actually give a fuck about it, right? If they're not doing anything to stop (and most importantly, punish) cheaters, then why the fuck are you even playing the game? And no, kernel level anti-cheat does absolutely fucking nothing and it's easy to bypass. Not only is it easy to bypass, but the "next step" of cheating, where I/O devices are controlled by a trained AI acting as a human, cannot even be detected by kernel level anti-cheat or even if you move the AC down to BIOS level.

At some point you just need to grow the fuck up and accept that games are just toys. If you don't want to play against cheaters, then play with your friends. If you don't have any friends and you're playing the game casually, it's hard to understand why you even care about cheaters since you're a casual. If you're playing the game competitively, but the game devs/publishers don't handle cheating properly, then perhaps it's time to move to a better game. And if you're playing on a highly competitive level (as in, for money), then cheating is usually not even an issue since at that point cheaters are legally liable and risk fines and jail time.

>Cheating is only possible if you don't do server side anti-cheat, validation and game logic.

lol no, scripts and aimbot still works, doesnt matter if you cant wallhack when you got a software running that automatically pans to the player on screen in vision and shoots for you.

inb4 but they do it at inhuman reaction. Thats why good scripts make sure its within human speed. League of legends literally does everything you said would stop cheaters. The server checks player inputs to make sure its within human reaction and they dont give player info until x player steps into vision and they still got scripting players, thats despite vanguard actually lowering The count by like 80%.

You can read about the entire thing here https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/dev/dev-vanguard-x-lol/ and thats from people that does this for a living and developed the best anti cheat in the gaming market right now lol. I take that shit over a random 4chin poster.

One of the ones that was neat was injecting ghosts/echoes of legit players into RAM, which catches out even DMA cheaters who are reading RAM to get player positions/data as their cheats can't tell the difference between a live player and a copy inserted into memory, if you can interact with these ghosts you're a cheater and get instaflagged

Aimbots are just scripts.
>cheat sending valid inputs
In this case, you've already lost the battle. Because you don't need to tamper with the OS by using scripts to achieve this, it can be done with external input tools. So a true anti-cheat solution does not exist and it is completely impossible.
Wasting money and time on this anti-cheat vs cheat arms race is pointless, especially once it sacrifices the end user's experience, compatibility or security.

My point is that, at some point you just have to accept people will cheat and stop giving a shit. In a real competitive event you'd be there competing in person and people would make sure you're not cheating.
In a casual scenario (99.99% of players) cheaters don't affect you at all. And if they do, why not just play with friends and completely bypass the issue of some random retard cheating?

Are you retarded? none like cheaters in games. As all the security analysts and anti cheat developers say, you cant stop cheating from happening but you can make it more difficult.

Its the difference between riot games vanguard and a shitty anti cheat like EAC that runs on rust thats just infested with cheaters, or how star wars battlefront 2 and bf1-bfv had servers being ruined by cheaters until the latter two got javeline anti cheat last year which made 90% of the cheaters go away.

It's honestly pretty comical how people pretend they're not fucked when even at a basic level the government can blast what they think is your home using your router and outline your exact location. They more than likely have similar technology in satellites or they're being introduced currently. Your phones track every single place you go unless you turn off cell data, but then that same data is gathered anyway just physically. Your PC parts give entities all sorts of information on their own, the OS is just a bonus. Your data on any given site has been or will be harvested. You could have slipped up when you were 10 years old and now there's something tethered to you forever.

Everything has your information, everything knows your location. You're so unbelievably fucked because they've been building up ways to identify people, behaviors and locations for decades. It happened all around us and no one could stop it.

What is "impossible data". Only the most dogshit games have cheats like noclip anymore. Majority of cheats are just esp/aimbot which are all memory reading, not manipulating. Aimbot manipulates at the driver level, not the game itself which is exactly why kernel anticheat became a thing in the first place. The fact is that shooter games are "solved" in the same way chess is. Trying to stop FPS cheating is impossible because the genre boils down to click head = win, which is why it's so easy to cheat in the first place

when its per capita (searches per million people in this case) its just because we have a very high % of the population playing games, and as such a higher % of people playing games.
if you look at server populations for individual games by region, many aus servers have 70-80% of the population of the US servers, despite the US being x10 as big.
when there is only an OCE server with sea added in, we usually are bigger than the US player wise.

just a fuckton of people from Australia play games, like over double the % of people compared to the US. Like 91% of households have "video game devices" and over 80% of people are reported to play video games, where the US has 60% who play games with <70% of households having a video game device.
truly the gamer nation
