It’s crazy to think that FromSoft hasn’t released a new game since 2019

Why is this the only From game with boss rush? That's something I think every game with boss fights should have.

because rollsloppers are always complaining that they don't have enough empty space to "explore". where else are they going to farm experience to make the next boss a pushover so they can feel like they're skilled

after a first playthrough, the handful of great bosses are the only motivation to go through all the filler in elden ring so being able to fight them would devalue the game

Nah, that logic only makes sense if the game's core loop isn't strong enough to stand on its own. If the only good thing about ER is a “handful” of bosses, that’s already a sign of imbalance. Boss rush isn't a replacement for exploration, it's a supplement. Let people enjoy the good stuff without spending 40 minutes riding Torrent past recycling plants.

Will I like this game if I liked every DS game, Bloodborne and Elden Ring, thought that Malenia was badly designed (beat her) and am shit at parrying in every game except for Bloodborne (I parry every fucker in this one)? All I hear is this game being the hardest From game and I don't mind hard as long as it's also fair and enjoyable.

Parrying is much more intuitive and forgiving and fun than any of the Souls games and even BB. It's a great game, not to say it doesn't get frustrating at times and you will get your ass handed to you, but at some point it will click and you will dominate them. Just know that you can't play it like Souls, it's closer to BB in that you have to be aggressive and stand in toe to toe with almost every enemy. Fantastic game, one of my favorites.

Bloodborne perfected the formula
Sekiro innovated
Elden Ring sold out and ruined the studio

Ok, thank you. I've seen a brief gameplay video and loved the aesthetic. Is the world at least a little bit open (like DS3 letting you choose where you'll go first in some instances) or is it totally on-rails?

I would describe it as similar to BB in that it is open to an extent, with more than one way to get to the same places, secrets to find, etc. It also has the same criticism that areas get reused. There are a few points where you can choose where to go first or get to an area "early" but in true From fashion you might miss it at first if you don't have a hint.

ER was From's moment of selling out. What a shame after all these masterpieces we probably won't even get AC6 DLC let alone another passion project like Sekiro or BB.

It’s linear with a single branching path for the first third, DS3 style for the middle third (you have to do 3 things but you can do them in any order), and again very linear for the last third. I think it wears it very well.

I did not. First 1/3rd is such unmitigated bullshit mob fights that it was the first from game not to outsell the previous, outsoled by DS2, and not get a DLC. It was a shareholder failure. Middle 3rd is fun as fuck though.

It's not as satisfying or well-made but as far as gameplay feel it's the closest thing I can think of in these games that isn't actually just playing Sekiro.

Not sure how that follows but you are right about their involvement which surprises me.

Demon’s Souls: Atlus

Dark Souls 1-3: Bandai Namco

Bloodborne: Sony

Sekiro: Activision

Demon’s Souls Remake: Sony

Elden Ring: Bandai Namco

Sekiro is unplayable trash compared to their other games.

I want a new King's Field like game. Not a fucking rhythm game that's best described as one long prank you pay to be the victim of.

I do like that you can stick it on anything. It’s a cool feeling to perfect parry with the dryleaf fist weapons. But it’s very annoying that it’s on a timer

I read where I believe Miyazaki himself stated that it didn't get DLC because of Activision. It was their choice and they chose not to, From couldn't do it if they wanted to.

No, Im not ADHD and academically challenged which is the Sekiro demographic. I swear it was kids who struggled in highschool finally getting to use their ADHD in a shitty rythrm game and get some self esteem. Which is why they are such defensive fags about it unable to have a normal conversation without calling critics mentally ill.

you can kill normal enemies in 2 seconds by overpowering them and one shotting them with a death blow. how come every criticism i see about sekiro magically involves the person revealing themselves to be utterly shit at the game

sekiro >>> elden ring >> bb > ds1 > ds3 >>>>> ds2

i've found that as i return to bloodborne i like it less and less, even though the setting is probably still my second favorite in the company's franchises (especially with the narrative twist). still like it more than ds1 because the second half of that game completely falls apart (and i even like lost izalith). hate ds3 and ds2. sekiro is of course the best game by a mile
