>>717247747 (OP)Meta (and others) biggest mistake was to make VR all about video games.

>>717247747 (OP)Aside from /v/ ridiculing it as being a 'gimmick'. I don't think it is really them to blame, it's the lack of investment from triple A. Valve tried getting this whole thing off the ground, but everyone else got lazy. We don't have any real talent being pushed into this industry is the problem. We're currently at the point of time where the risk of VR development is not appealing to those who sit in investor meeting board rooms, and i believe there is a lack of talented people still working in the industry that would have pushed this where it needed to be.
>>717247747 (OP)I like VR. 80% of my gaming is in VR.
I don't play stand up games. All of them are shallow and boring with no depth.
I think the Resident Evil games on the PSVR2 are the only room scale games worth playing, maybe Saints and Sinners.
I'd much rather play Elite Dangerous or some sim racer then stand in the centre of my room swinging my arms around like a twat.

VR games really need to invest into games where you're not walking/running. The entire input method is based around immersive gameplay, and you're not getting that unless you have a huge room that can accommodate it, one of those expensive slipping treadmills that force you to walk around like you have a fucking stick in your ass, or you just drop it entirely and move/teleport with the joystick.
Make more games where moving with the joystick make sense holy shit. Let me drive a mech that either flies or travels on the ground with wheels. Make more VTOL VR games where you're in a plane.

Quest 3 have stand alone games but Index is better for PCVR games. Index is currently old, and more expensive, but overall better for PCVR then the Quest 3.
>>717264405Doesn't Quest 3 allow for higher res compared to Index?
>>717264405I already have a Quest 2. When I wanted better looking games, I'd upgrade my hardware. I'm running everything through my PC, so what's the point in better hardware? Better lenses? I use it to jerk off 99% of the time, but how do I improve upon that? We've got 8K videos. What hardware would improve how immersive it is, or how great it looks?
>>717264157i'd do index but desu might just wait, valve has had a standalone VR platform in development for some time and I'd imagine it'll probably be more affordable than the index like the deck is
>>717264483Yes, but res is not everything, FoV is more important. I have both Index and Quest 3, use Index for games and Quest 3 for trooning and gooning with other troons(Vrchat).
>>717264496Big screen beyond 2 would be my guess, if you can afford it and find it worthwhile.
>>717264496As a Quest 2 user who tried Quest 3 - it's lighter, better FOV, no godrays and overall better image quality due to improved lenses.
>>717264834Is the Quest 3 worth it as an upgrade though? Or should I wait for the Quest 4, or whatever Valve is shitting out?
>>717247747 (OP)meta pretty much killed the vr ecosystem to get everyone into their ecosystem, while being fucused on that retarded metaverse shit about having business meetings in VR.
there are so many things that could have been done differently if they were serious about VR as a gaming peripheral, but they weren't interested in that, because they bought into that stupid metaverse shit as said before where they thought the real money would be.
>>717265028the metaverse bubble imploding and the revelation that nobody wants to socialize in a virtual social space that way when they can just play games and hang out in VC like young people have for the past twenty years gives me hope that some of the retarded tech bubbles of the now will also blow up
>>717264882Personally I have no plans to upgrade yet due to not being that interested in VR at this point, if I was using it on a daily basis and had spare cash laying around I would consider it. The Valve thing is worth waiting for if you plan to purchase a premium VR headset, imo. Just don't expect it to cost anything close to Quest 3.
>>717264765>FoV is more important. But is it worth double the price?
Have there been any good vr games announced or released in 2025?
its uncomfortable to wear.
'true' vr hasn't been made until its easy, comfortable, and you can interact with the environment without retard joy sticks.
>>717247747 (OP)There's like 5 good vr games and it costs like 1k to set up a PC vr. Nobody but streamers can afford it and nobody but streamers would waste time effort and money for 4 good games.

>>717265845>it costs like 1k to set up a PC vrFirst of all - since when is 1k for a gaming PC a lot? Second - I have 10th gen i5 and a 3060ti, quiet a cheap build, and I am able to comfortably play PCVR games.
>>717247803Did you know white people were created by Tawa because he was inspired by this Native American phenotype? I'm sure east asians were also bred.
This dudes phenotype was like subject zero.
>>717247803I think wolf domestication was also an inspiration.
>>717247803I've seen Tawa in expedition 33.
>>717259116VTOL VR didn't make you sick? For me that was the pukest one of them all, can't handle flight sims in VR
>>717264882>should I wait for the Quest 4Will take a while, pretty sure they scrapped their current plans for it
>>717266521Shit, I wish Valve would hurry up then
>>717264302IIRC I ran everything at around 60 FPS but I don't think it was related to the framerate
>>717266346not at all, it was actually pretty comfy, I think the sickness has to do something with having your entire surroundings move rapidly while you're moving in game, meanwhile in VTOL the cockpit doesn't move around so it's fine
Boneworks was probably the worst one out of all the games I played
>>717264157Pico 4 if you aren't american Quest 3 if you are
>>717247803haha, disregard that, I suck cock
>>717267134Pico 4 Ultra sounds cool, but I wonder if it's fucked with Steam Lnink
>>717247803I wonder how some french devs know about this guy.
Tawa is one of the more recognizable characters in that game.
>>717266901>60 FPSthat's very, very, very low for VR. Vomit inducingly low. You might've been looking at wrong graph though or your system couldn't handle the game properly since the lowest refresh rate you can go for Quest Link is 72. If you ever decide to give PCVR another go - try increasing max refresh rate in Meta app and see if you feel better.
>>717247803This is technically your creator. The human breeder.
>>717267528really? My PC couldn't really handle much more back then but I upgraded my rig since, I guess I should give it another shot
>>717267326>>717267134I watched a video and I'm convinced. Pico 4 Ultra looks neat.
>>717266037Literally meant 1k for the headset controllers lighthouses etc. Not factoring it at all into the cost of a PC. The average normy isnt gonna drop a grand to play 2 vr games. Also i appreciate you not adressing any of my other concerns
>>717268608also be aware that meta exclusives are ported to pico by some autismo haxxor by the name of "crx" on telegram. Played his port of Bamham on Pico 4 myself, it actually works.
>>717269029Interesting, thanks for the heads up. How is Pico 4 with SteamLink? Most of the time, I use SteamLink for my VR porn on Quest 2. How are the motion trackers for Pico 4?
Not really a vr game, but I wish that they would make a competitive RTS or shooter where you had to continually pedal a bike to generate some sort of resource in game, such that it added an additional element of exhaustion to the game like real sports. Also I know that I'm more fit than most good players so it would help me shit on them
>>717269092No idea about steamlink, I just use pico's streaming assistant for wired and ALVR for wireless. Werks for me
Trackers are fine as far as I can tell but that's the only headset I ever had so can't compare
>>717268859>Literally meant 1k for the headset controllers lighthouses etc.Quest 3 with controllers retails for $499 though, you have to buy a cable separately, unless you have a good wi-fi router, I'll give you that
>Also i appreciate you not adressing any of my other concernsWhat concerns? "Only 5 good games"? There's actually 6, haha. Boy must you feel foolish right now
are there any good vr mech games? So far DCS is the killer app if you're into that scene, right? Then beat saber, and half life alyx?
>>717247747 (OP)Its because its not actually VR its a regular game with extra steps. Just because I swing my controller like a sword doesn't make it feel like a sword. There is no weight or texture to anything. I'm just as aware im using a controller in a VR game as I am a standard one, moreso because I have this huge thing on my face, so I dont see the draw.
>>717269548eeeeeer I worry
>>717269029What hoops did you need to jump through in order to get those ports running? I've got my pico but haven't fucked with any piracy related stuff, will I brick something like in the PSP days if I'm connected to the internet/ put something in the wrong folder?
