I agree for almost every circumstance except for the horror genre. James is not attractive, he’s not meant to be. All the awkward asymmetrical inconsistencies of being a real person are exaggerated on him, because he’s a strange flawed man and his design should show it. Same for the new girl. Facescanning, if used well (sometimes even when it’s not) is great for this. This is a known quantity contributing to the mood of horror games for years pioneered by Siren to great effect.
