I've had tinnitus for more than a decade and i barely notice it unless there is total silence, even your kitchen faucet dropping 1 drop of water every 2 seconds is enough to take it away.
My trick was to never sleep sideways and don't block one of your ears with your pillow, otherwise you the ringing wont let you sleep

My dad knew a guy who fired a rifle at a deer from his truck window. Of course, the sound blasted his hearing. His tinnitus got so bad he killed himself. It can go well beyond a ringing soundโ€ฆit can also cause everything to sound piercing to a point it cripples you to your knees. My dad has had it for ages since he grew up around farm equipment and shooting guns with no hearing protection. Heโ€™s told me since my teens (Iโ€™m 37 now) to protect my hearing and Iโ€™m glad I did. I still have the ringing, but I know it can be a lot worse.
Canada is actually humane to allow people to do that. Thereโ€™s tinnitus like most people who wear headphones or go to concerts have and then thereโ€™s tinnitus that makes you want to blow your brains out.

I've had tinnitus since I was a little kid. I remember sitting in the back seat of my dad's car in the garage waiting for him to unbuckle me and just hearing an incredibly loud ringing. I thought it was normal until I found out about tinnitus in my late teens. It got louder recently and I went to an ENT and that fucker didn't believe me. He kept asking stupid shit like "were you near any explosions as a child?" Fucking hate doctors, dude.

And as a bonus it recently got way louder out of nowhere. About two weeks ago. I always used speakers on low so it's probably something with the nerves. Feels great to know there is nothing you can do about it.

I had tinnitus from using headphones all the time, I was really embarrassed to have other people hear the music I listen to and also TV shows and Anime Iwas so self-conscious of myself all the time so I would hide behind the privacy of headphones, and this developed into full autistic audiophile.
Eventually around 2016 I stopped using headphones altogether and switched to loud speakers for everything and my tinnitus healed after a few years, recently I got some wireless in-ear headphones for my phone which I've been using almost daily and I think my tinnitus will return at some point because i can't help blast that volume.

Interestingly I noticed I had frequent painful ringing in my ears when i was around 18 and taking my drivers license, but after that it mostly went away, now I get it maybe once a week at most. Maybe stress can cause you to experience it more frequently/severely.

get a high quality DAC that has 125+ SNR and only use open back headphones at a low-medium volume. People have shitty muffled audio sources so they crank the volume up to "hear the details" which ends up damaging their hearing over time.

I distinctly remember when my tinnitus started. I had a really bad itch in my left ear, so I rubbed inside of it with my pinky pretty roughly and after a bit the tinnitus just started. It was pretty damn harsh at first but after getting my ears cleaned out by a doctor and a few weeks it became far less intense. Years later I'm used to it, but I absolutely require a fan at full blast to sleep.

Had mine since Feb 2016 from blasting my ears non-stop throughout the day.
It was really bad, like it felt like a freaking jet or a motor was going off all the times.
Now it's just a faint eee sound that I don't even think about like 90% of the time, my hearing is a little fucked tho, can't make out what someone is saying if they are talking to me while there is noise somewhere.
There have been medical breakthrough when it comes to auditory shit, many science and medical institutes are racing to figure out a solution regarding tinnitus, so there is hope.
To all the people that don't have it, listen to your bodies, shit is no joke, many people commit suicide because of it.

You guys ever had double tinnitus in a single ear? It's like two different frequencies at the same time, I had it when I was hospitalized for 3 weeks and barely moved out of my hospital bed because of my back, I assume the lack of movement lead to blood not being pumped properly in the body and caused it, thankfully it went away when I started doing activity again.

We haven't had in-ear buds blasting in zoomer gen kids ears for decades and decades yet, so I'm willing to bet we haven't seen the worst tinnitus can get. Probably won't make you deaf, the ringing will just be so bad you'll wish you were. But just stay off of drugs and buds and you'll be okay.

Correct, you almost definitely don't have anything better to do. The medical system in the west is inundated with retards who fabricate reasons to see doctors constantly. If you have every single possible untestable "condition", it's fair for a doctor to assume you're one of the aforementioned retards even if you are the 1 out of a trillion case where it's all real.

I use it literally always with Tarkov. You have to turn your volume down a bit though or everything's too loud, but that's fine because it makes usually imperceptible sounds entirely audible. Also reduce the release delay to minimum.
