Why are 4chan schizos like that? Playing video games in public has been a thing since the creation of video games with the arcades games and later with the handheld lcd games like the Game&Watch ones and then with portable consoles like Game Boy.

Besides with lots of obnoxious, annoying people in public like niggers, illegals, gypsies, loud Karen, normies who talk loudly at their phones etc, nobody will give a shit about a person who plays games quietly in a corner with his phone or portable console.

Ps Vita wasn't a big seller like PSP was. But for a weird reason while 3DS was a hit I never remember seeing others playing with 3DS in public besides myself and friends of mine. Everyone was playing games at their phones instead.

While I've only played with portable consoles in public, I never did the same with Switch since it's not so portable. I don't even carry around my tablet like others do at cafe, restaurants etc. Hell, I don't even take my Switch with me at vacations and instead I take my tablet with a wireless controller to play emulators. Maybe my DS or 3DS too.
