Is there a single survival crafting coop game that's not just annoying grind and busywork?

I got DayZ during the summer sale and I'm still trying to figure that out. It's nice that it has an overarching theme of PvP/coop and zombies but, the survival elements of hunger, dehydration and sickness are a pain. crafting is pretty cool though.

What the fuck do you mean the crafting in DayZ, there is no crafting unless you mean 3 pieces of worthless clothing and base building that takes 10 years to get materials for

Enshrouded doesn't have too much of a grind in it, it focuses a lot more on exploration and combat.

just how you can jerryrig different shit like traps for animals and fish. can make your own hunting blinds/towers. there's the repairing and modding of guns and getting vehicles working. I mean I'm only 20 or 30 hours in and that's just the stuff that I've done so far...I haven't got on the base building stuff like you mentioned. it seems like a lot of trouble when you'd probably just get ganked by someone during the process.

Grounded is good. There's not really farming, so that takes away a huge amount of busywork that other games have. Building a very large base can be a bit of a grind, but if you just scale back and build a little at a time, its fine.
I haven't tried 2 yet.

The Forest and Sons of the Forest has similar problems to above, but is otherwise fairly low in grind and busywork, if you're looking for something a little more mature.

Enshrouded is more like an adventure game with a solid building system. It feels a bit simple in basically every system besides building though. Combat is pretty simple, skill tree defines some playstyles but doesn't offer a huge amount of customization. Even the building system doesn't allow angles outside of 90s. But the world is neat and lots to explore and find.

Yes that's kind of the point, you need to do a lot of low level missions and running from leopards before you will be trusted with an axe. They are impressed you lasted that long, or stuck out the game.

Raft is fun if you get into the gimmick. Its actually better as a coop because holy fuck dying solo is punishing as hell. Its only grindy if you don't netmaxx.

Valheim gets slightly less grindy as a group since you can work together to transport all your ore. Embracing the sailing to transport ore makes it more fun to me personally but if you find it annoying, mod it so you can use portals with ore.

V Rising is kinda neat if you like ARPG combat (which I don't). Its a bit more grindy than others I've mentioned, but its also more combat focused, so you bounce between the two things fairly frequently, or mix gathering with combat a lot.

That's stupid and uninspired. It doesn't even make any economical sense, you'd have to send way less people if you gave them a hunk of metal to use. It's an excuse for the devs to not have to think about any system of progression beyond the same copy-pasted bullshit.

Is there a good survival crafting game with challenging base defense? Besides 7DtD.

Thats the one thing that I've always wanted out of the genre. I want a reason to make a cool defendable base besides aesthetics.

Not craftable the fuck you mean???

This isnt even a crafting mechanic
DayZ is not a survival crafting game its a survival pvp game with minor crafting components that have zero depth and the vast majority are entirely useless or take an excessive amount of time to do

valheim felt MORE grindy for each additional person to me. it costs over a hundred ingots for most of the gear sets so you're bottlenecked both by actually securing enough of the raw materials (looking at you, iron) and by actually physically smelting all of it down since the smelters all have insulting low carry capacities and have to be babysat 20 ore/coal at a time.

The upside is repairing is free, and you can divide responsibilities like mass smelting. Though not being able to smelt lower quality metals in the bigger smelters is very silly.

It's pretty fun if you don't expect too much from it
it has a lot of small things that are fun and the core is fun for a few hours, but if you're expecting a complex or deep game you'll be disappointed
basically it's good for like 2-4 sessions with your buddy/buddies. I'd be surprised if you don't have a good time

I need a survival game that doesn't mean "eat every five minutes". Also, relies more heavily on guns than stones. Also, it doesn't spawn enemies out of thin air right in front of you.

Grounded 2 EA doesn't really have enough content to justify getting it right away (though it's a fuck-ton more than what Grounded 1 EA had), but thank fuck they consolidated the damn tools into one omni-tool. Their only fuckup was not making it an actual weapon you can swing around, but I cannot be assed to carry and routinely repair a bunch of stone tools.
