Do you think this encourage 3rd parties to start putting full physical games on the Switch 2 or will they still cheap out with Game Key Cards?

I thought it was pretty obvious that the size limitations was just a launch period thing, not much will change to the key card haters tho, most third parties using key cards already have games that would need the 64gb card regardless, they just want to maximize their profits

That's true, but at least it will be an incentive to indies to produce physical copies. I always assumed Nintendo would keep making physical copies of first party titles and the push for key cards or digital only was pressure from third parties, and that seems like that was the case.

The Kingdom Hearts HD Remasters were on the PS3 Bluray discs, which were dual-layered releases 50GB. The PS4 release were also stored on the 50GB single disc Bluray. A Switch 2 cartridge could only house KH1, 2, Chain of Memories HD Remaster without compression on the 64GB cartridge. The problem is Kingdom Hearts 3 is 50GB alone, 70GB with the DLC. They'll have to release 3 cartridges which means the games will cost beyond 50 dollars.

The entire Kingdom Hearts collection is 30 dollars physical on PS4. It would be a tough ask to see SquareEnix eat the costs of 3 cartridges for 60 dollars release, but then again EpicGameStore and Steam versions of Kingdom Hearts games are 90 dollars for the whole shebang.

You digital only people are transparent as HVI carrying wolves. The PS5 Pro isn't the most popular version of the console either, get a load of this guy. Now if Death Stranding 2 was digital only, you could make a case. But sony's 1st party are all still feature complete disc releases.

Having a game that was too small a size is one of the main reasons they would use a key-card since they'd be paying for all that empty space. It's not like Borderlands 4 that's 40GBs but is still a key card

The last Sony PS5 games: Astro Bot and Death Stranding 2 were full disc releases. Silent Hill 2 Remake a 3rd party time exclusive, is also fully on the disc. IDK why you're banging on about Sony and PS5/PS6, a move to digital only will instantly kill them as the consumer would just jump to PC. Physical is one of the few advantages keeping the console market on a separate lane from PC gaming. The others are prices, like 16GB GPU costing 500 dollars.

Macronix hasn't manufactured any Switch 2 cards, they've only done Switch 1 carts so far.
The main producer of NSW2 carts at the moment is Rohm, from the teardown of the cards there is the R20RG serial and from the comments earlier in the year.
But I guess it's the typical twitter misinfo shit as usual and people jumping at conclusions

I don't get digital only cuckolds celebrating themselves and trying to shitfling in physical threads. The poverty 500GB last gen consoles can literally only fit 2 live service games. Capcom's bloated Monster Hunter games are 100GB+ monsters. I don't get why you would want to constantly delete and redownload games that big. 4K is such a waste jesus christ.

Sony already gave up their exclusives to PC, they're gonna port more games to N and Xbox because they're that stupid

>Physical is one of the few advantages keeping the console market on a separate lane from PC gaming
Sony was never a consumer friendly company in the first place, they're a tech company just like Microsoft that entered the console war to act like a parasite

Lol no, the pis5 has worse shader stutter than the switch 2.
It also runs MHW like ass to the point it can't even hit 60fps during hunts on performance mode, and that's due to the RE engine being notoriously CPU bound.

Donkey Kong Bananza was 8.5GB and Bravely Default was 11GB. 16GB would be ideal for most AA provided an effort is made to compress the game and more than enough for indies unless they're Unreal Engine dumbasses.

You also got Ace Combat 7 being around 14GB on Switch 1 (including all the DLCs except the crossover licenses) while it costed a good 60GB on PC and PS4
Kunitsu-Gami is a bit similar, 10.1GB on Switch 2 vs 22GB on PC. So compression is not entirely a dead art on the successor console either.

The real question is "how you make pragmata run on the switch 2 for cheap?"
Gameplay would be identical because we didn't invented anything too heavy since the PS2.
The ideal scenario would be to redo the assets and shaders to fit the system power requeriments.
But we also have the "just disable effects" route (low brow porthouses), and the "run it at a pathetic resolution" route (panic button approach).
On the switch 2 the second approach can be combined with DLSS to make the (manmade horrors beyond comprehension) mode, where DLSSlop stretch shit like 360p to full res

Nintendo already has carts between 1GB to 32GB for Switch 2 (Mario Kart World uses a 32GB cart while Donkey Kong Bananza uses a 16GB cart) but only Nintendo themselves has access to those sizes die to supply, making 3rd Parties limited to 64GB as thats all the stock available.

Also this also indicates that 128GB carts exist to play catch up with the PS5 and Xbox Series X's 100GB discs but Nintendo isn't using them due to their cost.

That's a big assumption. The best case scenario is that this would take years for Switch 2 games to implement. And third parties would have to consciously decide not be as greedy with their profit margins.

I'd take convenience over install wizards and disk DRM in every situation anon, PC was shit when dealing with physical games because they couldn't guarantee a single, unified anti piracy method, so they used a lot and it was on you. At least currently you at worse only deal with Denuvo and the platform you bought the game in.
Physical only works with consoles because those guarantee a certain degree of copy protection from default

The 5.8 million is shipped (this is when Nintendo gets their pay). 6 million was sold from retail to customers. So either two things happened
>Nintendo flooded the supply chain to pad year end numbers
>July was a massive drop off
That said, of the 6 million sold, 3.5 was done in the first 4 days. So the other 2.5 million was over a month and a half. Given that you can easily buy a Nintendo Switch 2 now and have been for several weeks means the momentum is slowing more than tendies want to admit. The Switch 2's success has more to do with supply.
