DMC5 was literally the best selling Capcom game of the last quarter and the only game to sell over a million, almost 2 million copies. The entire series sold over 3 million copies this last quarter.
I don't think you understand. A 6 year old Devil May Cry game just outsold a NEW Monster Hunter.
The game has had insane legs and Itsunio's protege on DMC has already hinted at the series future on twitter.

It's natural that people will change upon time and leave things and places like 4chan behind; moot himself did after all. So it's to be expected that six - seven years later the board is used by a completely different userbase.

Devil May Cry 6 has been in development for a while now. Internal decisions have led to an increase in the budget, partially due to the Netflix show leading to a large increase in sales across the series, partially due to the failed launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, among other internal analyses.
Although initial sales of Monster Hunter Wilds was high, the game has failed to reach sales targets post-launch due to optimization, balancing, content and most importantly negative reception issues.
The worst part of it all has been the hit the series and Capcom's reputation has taken, which many are very unhappy with internally as Wilds was seen as an easy slam dunk victory due to the huge success of the previous entry. The overwhelmingly negative response on Steam User Review has been a disaster.
Thus it has been decided to increase funds for Devil May Cry because the series reputation is seen as being at an all-time high and projected launch sales for a 6th mainline entry are far above anything else due to the very strong continued sales of the 5th game and the series as a whole. Capcom believes that this momentum can be used to turn DMC into a franchise equal to Resident Evil in sales. Expect a remake at some point, perhaps even multiple depending on sales

A lot of producers, leads, art people and game designers for the series are still at Capcom. I don't think there was a similar level of mass exodus from the company when Itsuno left like there was when Kojima left to form his own studio after Konami.
People who know how to make these games still work at Capcom, it's just up to Capcom to actually give them the greenlight. I suspect they already have since they have to work on something, although it's still probably 3-4 years away.

It depends on the quality of NG4. Platinum has been bleeding talent for some time. A chunk of the talent was poached by Cygames when Granblue Relink was made and others quit when Kamiya left. We really don't know the level of quality left at the studio.
