In Persona 3 Reload, step into the shoes of a transfer student thrust into an unexpected fate when entering the hour "hidden" between one day and the next. Awaken an incredible power and chase the mysteries of the Dark Hour, fight for your friends, and leave a mark on their memories forever.

Persona 3 Reload is a captivating reimagining of the genre-defining RPG, reborn for the modern era.

Some things are lost, but most people don't have a PS2 or know how to emulate. I'm not personally a fan of how bright and colorful it is and the loss of stuff like the little chibi figure animation is really a shame. I think they changed some of the music, too.
Really, though, I can't be unbiased because I played it back the original came out and nostalgia is a hell of a thing to compete against.

There is no such thing as a good remake. It's serviceable but FES still has more charm and personality and they censored a few things. Reload is also much easier and in line with P5, the original could be brutal at times.

Maybe try emulating the original and if you really can't handle it go for Reload?

It's a good remake of Portable's male route
I would still put FES above it, and while Reload does have some nice QoL over it, people have modded most of the best stuff back into FES, so you may as well emulate
At the very least even if you can't rub braincells together to set up FES, wait for Reload to go on a significant sale

The wide popularity of this series detracts me from ever wanting to play it. I tried some short lived gachaslop years ago called aster tatariqus that had a similar mechanic of doing chores throughout your day and it was a fucking boring. That seems to be the main thing people gush over when they talk about this series asides from the turn-based jarpig combat and music.

Tldr I don't get it

It's the same game, you can ignore The Answer, it's even separate in the main menu, in fact that's what I did when I first played it because I found the ending bittersweet but perfect. It's not like P4G where they fucked up the visuals and forced Marie on you.

In terms of quantity of content, you get The Answer and a little bit extra, some hangouts scenes and a new boss battle
But even there you've got some changes that are more in line with what you'd expect from Portable, the main conflict being rewritten to cut down on some of the melodrama
Which isn't entirely bad but they really fuck up in other, important places too

You're not doing much, days pass fast, you're mostly talking to people. I guess if you don't like the high school setting you're not gonna like it. What makes it good is the modern setting, and the mix of VN with proper JRPG elements. The premise is that your group gets super powers and is secretly saving the world, that's something that appeals to people.
In terms of gameplay it's dumbed down SMT, which is a positive. Finally each game has a strong visual identity and a god tier OST.

Yukari trying to snatch the key from Aigis at the last moment is replaced with her simply collapsing to her knees
They changed the whole premise of the Big Fight by making it so that nobody else knows that Aigis dies if she loses, which personally I don't think is the worst change in the world but it definitely does lower the emotional stakes, especially since they just brush past it in optional dialogue after the fact
I'm sure people would argue that a lot of the hangouts are out of place but I didn't mind most of them, having something between all the dungeon crawling feels better than nothing

No harm in that the games are essentially "japanese high school simulator" meets SMT not everyone is gonna be into that. You can try Metaphor if you want to get a feel for how it plays both games are very similar but Metaphor is fantasy and removes alot of the cringier elements present in Persona.

Yes.
It's not a direct upgrade as there is still a few elements that the original does better, but overall, it's a way better game than any previous version of P3. The bits that the original does better are more inconsequential things like the lighting in some areas and I do prefer the 2D animated cutscenes from the original more.
But when it comes to the Remake, the main strength it has is that it greatly improves the gameplay which is straight up bad in the original games imo, the remake actually makes it fun to play along with a ton of QOL additions.

Most of /v/ will call it bad because this place hates remakes on principal.

Its better than the original. Doomer faggots will call it a demake because of one cutscene at the beginning of the game that they think looks better cause anime and the removal of a tranny npc

>graphically improved in every way
>script stays the same so story was not altered
>new scenes added with male sees members that act as brand new social links
>more stuff to do at night thanks to party member hangouts
>party movesets rehauled to make them more useful and distinct from one another
>new trait passives that individualize each party member further, unlocked via hangouts you can do at night
>tartarus improved significantly and way less boring to do, more difficult to traverse in one night than fes as well due to sp limitations
>fusion spells turned into theurgies which make them more balanced but still broken sadly
>a lot of boss fights are massively improved but the broken things the game gives you will make them seem easy still
The only bad thing is that they ruined some of the tracks by remaking them including mass destruction and battle hymn of the soul, however they made up for that by adding new songs that are just as good and arguably better like color of your night

Im too biased because the original PS2 version is my all time favourite game of all time.
The remake is probably more servicable for people that only experienced p5, but I think the whole vibe is different, I personally vibe more with the Lain-ish 2000s vibe the PS2 games had at the time so I think its why I didnt enjoy it as much, still I think some of the new tracks a pretty good the same way P3P also brought nice music to that version.
Overall I'm happy that P3 also got a new audience and we also got new merch from P3 in stores because of it.

The gameplay is only "better" in Reload in the sense that it won't "get in the way" as much, not that it actually improves what's there.
>tartarus floors are small linear hallways with 1-2 chests, nowhere to explore
>p3's loot system where equipment had randomized effects is removed and equipment is usually just given to you in fixed chests on boss floors, no need to explore for equipment
>you now get enough exp from bosses that there's no need to explore for exp
>liz requests asking you to get certain weapons or shadow drops from tartarus are gone, no need to explore for items
But Persona fans will interpret Tartarus being more shallow and simple like this as an improvement since it lets you mindlessly button-mash past it and get back to the social sim sooner.

played FES and the remake. both great games but just play the remake if you are getting into modern persona.
