I've been trying to spread out into more weapons, still trying to get the flow with gunlance. Focus mode is a really nice re-adjustment for a lot of weapons with high commitment. I also really like that the cap on monstars around is finally away form 2/3 that the series had been stuck on for years. Getting swarmed by 5 raths is really something.
The weird part for me is that the performance isn't inconsistent. I can get really stable frame rates and the game can look great when out and actually fighting things. It's just in towns that half the textures seems to be on the wrong setting or I notice the fans on my PC giving it their all.
I hope they work it out before the inevitable expansion because I've been reluctant to play as much as previous games.

I liked it. It was worse in some ways but better in others. Glad that it exists, would love to see a new entry or a DLC. Unmoored world was cool as fuck and i love when games have a time limit or some way that otherwise forces you to manage your resources in a very strict way. The lowering of your max health until rest+limited amount of rests before the world becomes enveloped is sucha good idea. Too bad wakestones trivialize the affair, and you have more than enough wakestones to use by the time you reach the unmoored world.

Shame. I bought a PS5 because I specifically didn't want to deal with the unwritten autism of tweaking shit on PC and I don't care for mods. I just want to plug and play. My GTX 770 had it's time now I gotta spend $3000+ on the next machine because it has to make AI slop only for that to become obsolete by 2030. But like I said, I got bills to pay, a driver's licence to earn, a car to buy, a holiday to book and a girl to take out so such a goal isn't possible right now.

Better then the first game in many ways at least the ones that matter. Gameplay is more fluid and you don't have to chug stamina regen potions while running around or climbing monsters. Exploration is miles better and the biomes have verticallity to them. Pawn AI is improved.

Sure it would have been nice to have a better story, more fun quests, etc but this game's only real cardinal sin is that it's more Dragons Dogma and the people who bash it most likely never even played the first game.

DD2 is the only one I can think of in recent years. Since the original DD presented to me an excellent concept with a rushed execution, it was easy to believe they got all they needed to make a truly great sequel because they only needed to build upon an already made and very solid foundation. The trailers themselves didn't offer any strong reasons for suspicion either. Often there are warning signs for anyone looking in the run up to release, e.g. Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but I can't remember anything about DD2 setting off the alarms.

At least to me, the thing about games that truly impress is that the high standards they set result in a certain level of pessimism being priced in for any future titles meeting them, which dampens enthusiasm even if they're still likely to be worthy games in its own right. A flawed gem on the other hand feels like an easy stepping stone to greatness, since the devs are required to mostly just perfect the formula rather than innovate or experiment. That naturally lends itself to more optimistic expectations, and it's why I fell for it despite typically being much more cautious, even when it comes to franchises I really enjoy.

I'm more at the size of the map and the spacing of the towns with the enemies scattered around, this is more survival than the witcher but yes the combat is better by far, but again the main issue I'm having is the lack of content. The witcher I'd have like 15 quests to do taking me all over the place into the wilderness exploring every inch of the map. I have no real reason to head off into the corners of the map here. The game doesn't really reward exploration other than a few collectables and I always feel like I'm bumping into something that I shouldn't be seeing yet like it's part of the main quest so I'm stuck between skipping content and spoiling game reveals. I don't know what the game wants me to do, idk if I'm just supposed to stick to the towns and do busy work or head off innawoods and just fuck around.

Same thing happened with MGSV, it's an "auteur vs moneybags" sort of conflict. In both cases the auteur left or was chased out while the product was quickly wrapped up and pushed out in a state that fails to meet expectations.
While auteurs can be difficult hacks to work with, chasing out all your talent is not a good move. But Capcom may be broadly moving to cheaply outsource all its IPs while minimizing inhouse development, just like Konami.
There's a non-zero possibility that the decision to outsource is actually what necessitates the need to collapse inhouse development while what we (and the shareholders) see is an underperforming problematic developer being shitcanned. Just as keikaku.
