Musical Nostalgia
Talk about video game music.

Maybe the #1 thing I loved about playing video games was listening to their soundtracks. It would make-or-break a game.
When Ocarina of Time released in 1998, as an 11-year-old boy, I always felt "Zora's Domain" felt very... familiar. Very... romantic? My mother loved listening to Billy Joel albums.
I'll never separate these two tracks.

Video games can by musical joy. I love Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu and so many others for their wonderfully positive influence in life.

hearing certain songs from Nier and Automata gives me instant PTSD/depression, in a good way. those games are really memorable and the soundracks have a lot to do with it
this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n08b1ptdnYM reminds me of being in college and having no fucking clue what to do with my life, i'd drink and smoke until 2 or 3 am and sit on my terrace looking out at the river wondering where i'd end up in

yes catherine was great, it was the first game i played that had a Shoji Meguro ost and when i went on the play Persona 3-5 later on i realized i like a lot of his music. Each game has its own distinct feeling/style to it but you can tell he's behind all of them, he's pretty versatile

Holy shit. It's the same song. The key, the ambience, even the fucking tempo are identical. Your video sucks, but damn that's a good mashup.

Became a shut in NEET around the time I finished this game. Still a NEET nearly a decade later, except less happy.

OK, but why did FF6, a game that was released on the SNES, have a far better soundtrack than any N64 game?

Nobuo Uematsu is a literal genius for compisitions. He's the John Williams of video games. Except he also loves doing rock and metal. And disco. And techno.
