NA version is fine on the original PS2 if you can get them (both are fairly cheap). The Monster Arena alone will drain you of your willpower to 100%, you don't want Dark Aeons stopping access to many parts of the game...

the embarrassment in Yuna and Tidus afterwards when wanting to face the others heavily implies they would correctly guess the two of them had been fucking in the extended time they were alone since they returned together. her willingness to hold his hand shows that Tidus basically unlocked her personality and emotions from the shell of "Braska's daughter."

If your "affection" with Tifa is below a certain amount, you merely have a nice relaxing evening talking with her while looking at the stars. It only becomes sex if you have higher affection, which results in Tifa being embarrassed about the others still being on the Highwind (and watching).

FFX has the same mechanics but it only changes certain cutscenes and who says certain lines, also Tidus's best Overdrive involves the highest female affection scorer. FFX was changed at some point to have Yuna and Tidus be a couple but it's not fully reflected throughout the entire game and its mechanics; FFX-2 doesn't mess around though and makes Tidus into Yuna's lost soulmate.

Why do these older Japanese games look better than most modern games? Everytime I see pictures or videos of ffx or ff12 over the years I'm always amazed at how beautiful they look. Even the cgi cutscenes look better than a majority of modern stuff

It's weird they left it in at all because when I first played FFX as a kid I was confused why all of a sudden during the last few cutscenes Lulu was saying things like "Being with you is never boring!" and diving off an airship before me after cheering me on.
The direction the ended up in (Tidus/Yuna, Lulu/Wakka) fits well with their character arcs in the game but they never have any truly satisfying moment of romantic interaction besides the love scene between Tidus and Yuna.

They also had a system in place called the delusion system where Tidus would daydream about stuff that he would pick up about this foreign new world and you could choose which daydream he would have at certain scenes a few remnants of that are still inside the game too oh and there was supposed to be a cooking minigame aswell as he was supposed to be good at cooking back home in zanarkand and that was one way for him to feel sad about not being able to return

In general Tidus was a far more fleshed out character that stranded into besaid like in cast away and wouldve had several scenes where he would be on his own, like he actually spends several weeks at Baaj temple when he first strands in spira but they cut all that shit too

It's pretty easy actually. There's an English patch for the Japanese "International" PS2 version, which is the EU version but at the correct framerate. The best way to play FFX is to emulate that version.

I'd only recommend steam version for someone who has alreay played the game. The higher res UI and other QoL is worth it. But for someone who hasnt ever played FF10, they def should play PS2 version first time, because the HD remasters completely fuck up the feel of the cutscenes.
