The anime-fication of the industry killed VA. It's usually the same 5 voices in everything now.
People clowned on FFX for the iconic HAHAHA scene but the voice acting in this was phenomenal, all of the voices suit the characters perfectly and most of those voices are completely alien to anything you would hear today.
That PS1 and PS2 era presented uncharted territory for artists to really be unique and produce special content. Now everything is by the meta, AI will make that even worse.

I finished it today, and if it makes it into any top 5 list, it's definitely in fifth place.
There is no exploration, the cities are non-existent, the place that should have a greater focus on exploration is Bevelle, and even then you just parachute in, make a mess, and leave.
The NPCs don't talk properly, they don't say anything interesting, there are no interesting side quests.
The combat is okay, I guess
