To further expand on this:
Skeleton Prime will deal 238 damage when spinning (this is the most dangerous attack that will hit the most times).
If you have Hallowed armour (the armour for that "level" so to speak), the highest you'll get is 50 defense. Counting Acessories (anhk shield, Warding modifiers) you can reach 80 defense. Count potions, buffs (Bast's defense) and you'll reach into an optimistic 102 defense.
That means Skeletron prime can lightly bump you and deal 136 points of damage. The best potions you have available at that time are 150 HP.
This means that Skeletron Prime can kill you in 3 hits with the best armour and buffs available. Potions mean you get one free hit every 60 seconds.
This all assumes you dodge the lasers, the skulls, the arms and every other bullshit he throws at you. AND, not only you're dodging all that crap, you'll have to find a way to deal damage to something that can kill you by touching you!
For comparison, in expert mode, you can get the same protection, but only protects you 75% = about 76 points of damage absorbed. But now, he only deals 158 damage. Meaning you take 82 points of damage per hit.
Skeleton Prime in Expert takes 5 hits to kill you. 6 if you use a potion after taking 3 hits. And this also means you can take 3 "free" hits every 60 seconds.
I got up to the Twins in Master Mode, but when I tried Skeltron Prime and the Destroyer, that's when I started doing the math and gave up on it. It wasn't fun getting to that point, it wasn't fun trying to get over that point, and I'm pretty sure it was never gonna be fun past that point either.
