To Nintendo it's all about protecting their brand. They know that the exclusivity factor gives them a huge, fancy membership only quality status that they would immediately lose if they were forced to actually compete directly and just dropped their games on whatever would take them. It's a long term thing for them. But with an accountant and EA executive at the helm where the short term profits are far more tantalizing, I easily so them going the Xbox and Sony route within the Switch 2's life and if not then all but guaranteed during the Switch 3.

I personally think their Xbox 360 ports were nothing special. The Wii U re-release of TP got an additional challenge dungeon. I'd say they should still keep their timed exclusivity.
