What made Sony think that this game would be successful?
Anonymous No.717566764
Because it was greenlit in 2018 back when Overwatch was still relevant and people weren't sick of the MCU.

I honestly couldn't say. Maybe the devs knew it was going to fail and purposely made every character ugly to make people not want to buy it?

They bought Bungie, and let them make big decisions on their live service strategy.

See also MARATHON and FAIRGAMES. as well as the canceled TLOU game.

Toxic positivity and the game development having started back when people actually thought that feminism in gaming was about "respectful" designs(whatever that means)instead of women's sexual insecurities, which is the reality.

the grifters that pitched and made it probably produced a library worth of studies that shows that it's what the modern audience wants and that sony should totally give them billions of dollars to make it

I remember seeing the reveal trailer.
>huh is that guardians of the galaxy?
>looks interesting!
>could be fun
>"FPS multiplayer online hero shooter"
>oh nevermind I'm out

And that was before we were seeing the full extent of the DEI design.

Because they initially focused on the yellow white--guy and the conventionally attractive Asian woman. Keeping the rest of their designs completely hidden

Based on the best info I have, which is slightly more trustworthy than a brick, I heard that it basically boiled down to rot at the top of the dev structure like anywhere fuckin else. A demand that everyone only ever had nice things to say. Sunshine as law.

Nobody was allowed to say β€œHey, could this be better?” Or β€œAre we missing this?” or β€œWe should redo this!”. No. It was supposed to be sunshine and rainbows development. Always compliment each other. Only ever positive vibes. Isn’t the robot guy so cool? Better say yes cuz this is good vibes only.

And so the game basically fucked itself up. If you are super focused on only seeing the silver lining in what you are working on you tend to not end up making a good game.

If garbage like Guardians of the Galaxy, which inspired Concord, can be successful, then there is no reason for it not to have succeeded.

>What made Sony think that this game would be successful?

1. The guys at the top, in the boardrooms, are pure money men. They know literally NOTHING about the products their company makes and get furiously angry if anybody tries to tell them anything about the products. Only thing they want to hear is "line goes up".

2. Guys below them, in charge of product lines, are absolutely out of touch with the audience. They know, roughly, what a videogame is, but with a gun to their head they couldn't tell a good game from a bad one. They listen to expensive market consultants and believe every word.

3. Said consultants are con artists. All of them.

4. Of the employees who actually make the game, very few like games or play games. It's just a job for them, one they don't intend to stay at for long. Ones that do like games may know that they're making a piece of shit, but they are not incentivized to point that out - doing so would most likely get them fired for negative attitude. So they keep quiet and just do the job.

And that's how you get Concord.

A circlejerk of self-gratifying retards thinking their shit didn't stink and that everyone else was wrong tried to push a game that nobody wanted and they were so out of touch they wouldn't accept any criticism whatsoever.

At some point, when you're rigging something into "success", you have to take the training wheels off and let it fly on its own.

Concord was that moment for wokeshit.

Somehow, somewhere, someone who shouldn't have had the sway and control they did, got exactly that.
That in combination with a "Toxic Positive" work environment. So designs which were literal shit were promoted similar to how everyone in a girls circle of friends tells the ugly fat bitch she's beautiful even though no one actually believes it.

Compare this to TF2. Not a single character in Concord have their own silhouette.

>Executives don't know anything about the product and are only tasked with managing the business.
>These people rely on consultants, market analysts etc, etc.
>These people are either frauds or have agendas
Combine these with a work environment where only positivity is allowed, creating an environment that is toxic where no one wants to risk their job or reputation for a product they don't care about and you get Concord.

tldr; don't let money men and consultants make your game for you.
