I don't know if it'll be successful or not, but I still have no interest. A character like that implies more than just the characters appearance. It implies a choice to make the game in a specific way through a specific lens. Guaranteed it'll the game will be "woke" in more ways that just the character in question.
Regardless I won't be buying it. Asian Games tend to be much, MUCH better than Western Political slop these days. Even when they completely fuck up like Monster Hunter Wilds, it's still infinitely better than 99% of Western Sloppa.

I stopped playing WoW because of how cancerous the community was.
I was one of the best tanks on my server in one of the best guilds and I fucking hated it. I liked the idea of being the best and getting the best gear before anyone else, but I hated everything else about it. I hated how it felt like a second job. I hated how serious everyone took the game. My most memorable moments in WoW weren't from raiding and playing with the "friends" I knew from my guild, but from leveling alts and playing with randoms and doing dungeons with them as well as casual PVP encounters or pub battlegrounds. They were infinitely more fun.
About when I started to realize how much I hated almost every aspect of serious raiding, those aspects started to leak into the rest of the game. By that point, everyone had a DPS log addon, everyone was posting their times to third party websites which logged your times and other stats through third party programs. Even public groups started to request times and achievements and that escape from raiding with my guild became less and less common.
That experience basically ruined my entire outlook on online games. Especially multiplayer co-op games.
Nowadays I basically only play single player games.

Somehow, somewhere, someone who shouldn't have had the sway and control they did, got exactly that.
That in combination with a "Toxic Positive" work environment. So designs which were literal shit were promoted similar to how everyone in a girls circle of friends tells the ugly fat bitch she's beautiful even though no one actually believes it.

Dragon's Dogma 2 was actually pretty good. It's obviously not as good as DDDA, but it's still pretty good.
Wilds was also okay, though the hate train for Wilds is more understandable than DD2.
