Feels like it was made by people who understand what an MMO actually is, compared to the original devs who were so clueless they didn't even understand their own class design, there's far more content and the gameplay is improved a lot, you can have hundreds of people in the same area unlike the original which capped at like, 20 or something.

At first yes but once master mode unlocks there's extra rooms you can go through, you can pick and choose which rooms you want to clear, you have to kill a certain amount of enemies to unlock the boss room so you don't have to full clear the dungeon.

It's mostly just aoe fest on mobs, some classes have abilities to pull mobs together which is important, once you up the difficulty levels though they can easily kill you and CC you so you do have to be careful, the boss fights are mainly where things happen.

Pretty bad, the game lets you see up to 150 other people at a time, but I get down to 30 fps if that actually happens, you can change the amount visible on a slider though and just adjust it until your frames are good again, I usually keep it at 150 in towns for fun but lower it when at a world boss for example.

Fun. But operates on different approach than "Everquest-like" MMOs - you are expected to go around, just do your thing (zones are divided into areas where you help NPCs by just being there and either killing mobs or doing some activity, instead of doing old school quests) and most importantly - do shit with people around. There is no kill stealing (everyone participating gets exp and their own loot), combat is a mix between target and non-target, everyone have healing skill and combat is more about avoiding damage rather than taking it straight to the face. Everyone is scaled in level and stats to their current zone, similar to TESO (somewhat, high level players are still visibly more powerful) and general idea was that "whole game is endgame" which was confusing many people who expected WoW-like "rush to max level" and complained that there was "no endgame" because they skipped all dungeons and thought that only single max level one matters.

It's fun and since year or something - f2p, so you can try anytime without commitment. Just different.

Gw2 is weird. It does a lot right but still never felt good. Hated the way the fight design is in that game. Didn't love the class kits. Overworld stuff was really good other than the mastery locking progression. More or less, the insane part was once you finally got to endgame, all they did was turn the same old dungeons into "hard mode" version. These were insanely infuriating due to the class and aggro system but they also had really tight time limits.

You will get all the p2w elements for free over time. You'll get a daily and weekly influx of tokens to use in the Imajinn gacha, which has pity rate mechanics. You can spend to get more tokens, but those are slightly timegated as well. We're still talking months of difference. Still, they did actually nerf this from the beta. Imajinn now have a flat effect that defines them, and a few stat boosts. In the beta, those flat effects scaled with Imajinn level. Now, only the stat effects scale. And its really minimal, we're talking something like 5% extra HP at base level and 8% extra HP at max.

That's false. Chinese servers are on fire, laggy garbage. The game contains essentially p2w garbage behind gacha, which is most importantly questionable in the future (they will likely make it giga broken for whales). Outside that, for the most part it's cookie cutter mmo that even in interview was confirmed to aim to casuals, so we can expect cookie cutter content for the most part with some gacha slop in it. Overall it's ultimately another "mobile" mmo, might be better than some of them, but still bad.

Well, you can tell this will go wrong considering they offer same level of sloppy toppy rewards (up to 50% additional hard currency up to 450 USD) for buying hard currency during beta. It's common gacha tactic and this is clearly who they're aiming for, so even if at the beginning they won't be exceedingly greedy (like they were in beta), but this will change over time.

Either chug through slow ass progression with very little for doing anything that wasn't just tedious bullshit, or throw your lot in with the gacha which slipped in progression/skip items alongside the items people were doing the gacha for to begin with. Since there was no PSO2-style market for reselling gacha items so you could grind other ways for the stuff, this basically meant you could want cosmetics but either skip grind or get redundant grind skippers you don't need, or want skippers and get cosmetics you weren't wanting.

You map most functions to simple button combos and setups, and then have something like select/back be a means to open a chat menu, though communication sucks as a result. Yeah, they're not fun to deal with for typing from personal experience. Anyone that's seriously dedicated will just be buying a keyboard they slot into the bottom of the controller anyway, or a USB keyboard to use on their system. At that point besides performance limitations, and the lack of addons/plugins, you're not really any different from the normal player, and arguably controller players on FF14 have some very good uses for precision movement in their own right compared to a WASD or clicking style.
Not that anyone on FF14 Xbox would want to communicate anyway. There's some weird shit only on Xbox, claimed to be from Microsoft themselves running a checker on text chats that auto-censors the hell out of too many things and even auto-banned some players for it.

They already nerfed one of the dungeons on master mode because it was too hard for the average player, the hard mode raids are currently a wipefest too.
Clearing content in this game when you're at-level is pretty engaging, but when you outgear it, it does become a snooze. Luckily they stole M+ from WoW so you don't really outgear dungeons unlses you're soulless and farm the lowest difficulty because it's faster.
The combat isn't as good as those games but it's good enough, as long as the encounter design is good.
