The actual problem with DOOM Eternal is that it's too easy and the devs never push the level design to it's limits
Kaiser campaign not only has more complex fights, it also knows when to hold back. The final SGN fight with the possessed Tyrant and several Super Makyr drones + 3 Archviles is fantastic, as is the Slayer gate with 4 Spirit Possesed Turrets and Infinitely respawning Shotgunners and Carcass.

While Id is talented, they never pushed Eternals combat to this level, which is where it's 10/10 design shines through (and also some of it's flaws, like bad collision hitboxes for the player and levels)

In classic Doom aiming ironically isnt a huge part of it, its momentum and exploration based mostly. That is Doom to me, this is like a parkour ninja and it is fun but I dont like having to use the chainsaw like 20 times per fight and that is not addressed in this image the entire combat system is based on using the chainsaw an insane amount and it just gets old. Then when they introduce the resource pinyata aliens toward the end it just becomes more apparent how the combat is based on fodder enemies and the actual level and exploration in levels is just to break up the pace of things it has no bearing on combat.
