They do now. There was an update that added a tavern bar, and thralls now wonder your encampment, work, sleep, eat, guard, etc. The issue is with some of the bonuses, it appears that they just speed things up or provide an extra crafting recipe where appropriate, but they no longer reduce the material costs, just buff up armor/damage/durability. Also, Journey has been reworked, so you get some nifty stuff out it.
