No but I'm getting fired and am going to focus on some robotics ML since I live on just a few hundred a month and don't really need the income anyway and I think I'll enjoy that.

... so, hear me out: manual IP packet routing devices. like, you have to call someone to route your TCP or UDP packets to the next node, and they have to coordinate routing to the next node and so on until it reaches the destination, and then the response is routed following the reverse order. all of that is done manually, to prevent MitM attacks.
ok so...... billion dollar idea. right, get this... p2p proxies... okay okay... so u have ppl setup their proxies and then other ppl connect to them securely... like, u get the best deals on proxies and all the profits go to the people man. u get a nice clean slice for being the middle-man.

In retrospect, the fact that the power light wasn't coming on even though the fans were should have been a clue

Had an hour long meeting (took and hour and a half) that pulled 50 people away from work so we can talk about processes.
It has been insane how often they talk about doing things the "right way." Over the 2 years since I've started here. Endless talk about nothing.
We never end up changing anything. We get stuff out the door just fine, so what if it can be a bit hectic and we heavily depend on 10 guys out of the 50.

How much can I coast by without anyone noticing and/or caring?
>>105909728When working for a big company I was amazed at how many useless people seem to exist just to have meetings with other useless people while wasting everyone's time. At my last job I'm fairly certain 90% of the people in the company could disappear and productivity would improve.
This is also where my vague online prejudices and memes against Indians were tempered and forged into an ironclad heartfelt racism. I should have known when I was being interviewed by an Indian woman that I'd be spending at least 50% of my working hours in meetings in which I would not speak or contribute at all

Do I even bother looking for another dev or dev adjacent role? Been working for two years in a fairly niche industry maintaining some internal tooling and building a small SaaS offering with two other guys. I have no formal education and LC wise I can do easy/some mediums. I could probably improve if I dedicated more time to it but I donโt know if theyโre really required for Midwestern USA and I rather spend my free time working on more practical projects.
I would like to get into DevOps (or security eventually) but I donโt know how much what I do here is actually transferable to a more serious company. I manage our small cloud infra and pipelines, should I keep focusing on upskilling that or is there no point given the market is so bad Iโm competing with people infinitely more credentialed than myself? I want to leave soon but Iโm worried. I do have a CCNA and was a Sys Admin for eight months before I got this job, should I just shift back to focusing on that?

job2 is a farther and commute can take up to 2x1hour when traffic is heavy essentially adding +10-15% working time for 20%. The math checks out, but fuck commute and fuck having no leisure time (I would gladly halve my income for a 4h/day job). I wouldnt write off job2 so fast just because job1 has less in office days.

from the top off my head
1. LLMs are good at writing docs, for some reason bosses LOVE verbose prose and I give it to them
2. LLMs are insanely good at SQL or more like the avg coder like me only knows the basics and database experts are a thing of the past in most places. Paste your next non trivial query to any semi capable LLM to make it performant and readable and awe
3. Code review - nuff said
4. Use them as an external authority. It is much harder for brainlets to argue against LLMs because it also means they are going against the grain.
5. Writing context free / light context code e.g. boiler plate / unit tests

Have some fucking humility. You're in our country, speaking our language, and yet you still have this deranged and delusional racial pride that makes you think you're even comparable or equal to whites. You are a guest, living here because we allow you, and you are reaping the benefits of an immensely elevated standard of living that you could not achieve in your home country, because of your genetic makeup. You should be thanking us every day that we allow you to stay here.
Instead you're shamelessly pretending that we're even comparable, ironically enough displaying your inferiority by being so fucking stupid you can't understand the concepts of "source quality" or "secondary sources".
Yes, a peer reviewed study out of Stanford University comparing the standardized test scores of thousands of students from multiple countries is more accurate than the data of some random fucking website selling online coding courses.
https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1814646116
And no, a twitter account reporting on the study doesn't lower the credibility of the data. Fucking moron.

All that's going to happen is the competent devs will see it coming, get creative, and figure out how to live outside of whatever box they come up with. Then corporate hiring will be way harder. You're already starting to see this where corporations have thousands of applicants but none of them are able to actually contribute.

my wife (third worlder) wanted me to look at her work computer and brought it home. its a intel atom quad core with 2gb of ram, a 32gb emmc, and windows 10 preinstalled, and it literally runs off a phone charger - it sat on the charger all day sunday and only charged to 80% from dead. whats interesting is windows 10 shenanigains, i expected it to be slow as fuck but at desktop idle its using 1.1gb of ram. you open chrome or excel and it opens fairly quickly for what it is. it's a ddr3 dimm so i did the reasonable thing and put a 8gb dimm in it. i booted it up again and windows 10 is now consuming 5.7gb just running the desktop and its not any fucking faster. someone explain this nonsense how thirdies can get away with running 10 on this shit but you need 16gb for a usable experience

to this day I'm unaware of any non Surface(tm) tablets that come with W10 but the profusion of touchscreen-enabled laptops make it pretty nice on mid-range business laptops now, and yeah it runs on basically anything that costs more than 199$ new
